"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
Is free speech a human right? Where should we set the limits of free speech? Should we be free to cause offence? When is censorship justified?
For our next walk we will be pondering the above questions and more while exploring the ancient woodlands of Epping Forest. We'll be using the book Free Speech: A Very Short Introduction by Nigel Warburton as starting point - you don't have to read the book to attend but you'll get more out of the discussion if you do.
We are meeting outside Chingford Overground station by the entrance nearest Station Road at 10am and walking to Epping forest - exact route to be determined but we might end up at a different station to the starting point, distance approximately 7k with lots of breaks - a bit longer than our usual walks.

Please read the notes below carefully and check the location details before attending!
This is a walking discussion group with handouts with quotes and questions provided as a starting point. The only rule is to keep all discussion friendly and constructive and be respectful of other attendees. No dogs please because they are distracting to the group discussions. Please arrive early: we wait a maximum of 15 minutes at the meeting location and once we have left it will be very difficult to find us. The walk will go ahead no matter the weather so do dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if needed. This is an off-road walk so the path might get very muddy - wear appropriate footwear!
There is an optional £5 fee for this walk to help contribute towards the meetup.com fees and the time put in to prepare the walk and printed notes. This can be paid in cash on the day or via this stripe link: https://buy.stripe.com/3cs5mi0aD3SxeT65km
