join us for our second AWS User Group Cologne in 2024!
The meetup will be held on Thursday, March 21th, 2024, at 6:00 pm / 18:00 CET and is presented by NTT DATA. Get ready for an exciting talk by Michael Loibl (Cloud-Native Lead Architect and Software Developer at NTT DATA) and Benedikt Schröter (Lead Consultant - Data Engineering at Cologne Intelligence) and of course a friendly get-together!
This meetup will not be hybrid so you can only participate on site. Please register beforehand as there is only a limited room capacity.

Michael Lobl: Building Scalable Gen AI RAG Applications with AWS Serverless
Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications provide valuable opportunities for leveraging the power of Generative AI. However, building enterprise-grade RAG applications can pose significant challenges. Although Amazon Q can offer quick solutions, managing the scale and complexity of such applications often requires more control than Amazon Q can provide. In this talk, we will explore how AWS Serverless services can be utilized to build a robust, scalable architectures that meet the needs of enterprise-grade RAG applications. Join us to learn how GenAI RAG applications works and how to achieve greater innovation and productivity in your RAG applications with AWS Serverless services.
Michael is a Cloud-Native Lead Architect and Software Developer at NTT DATA. His focus is on modern software development and architecture, CI/CD, container orchestration, serverless computing, as well as DevOps cloud-native infrastructure, architecture and implementation. Additionally, he is often a speaker for internal tech talks, as well as external meetups and conferences.

Benedikt Schröter: AWS Data Lakehouse mit Athena, dbt und Iceberg
In der heutigen datengetriebenen Welt suchen Organisationen kontinuierlich nach Wegen, große Datenmengen effizient zu speichern und zu analysieren. Ein beliebter Ansatz dies zu ermöglichen, ist der Aufbau eines Data Lakehouse, welches es Unternehmen erlaubt, ihre Datenhaltung zu zentralisieren, aufzubereiten und einem breiten Personenkreis zur Verfügung zu stellen. In diesem Beitrag wird erörtert, wie ein Data Lakehouse in AWS mit Athena, dbt und Iceberg aufgebaut werden kann, welche Vorteile diese Technologien zu bieten haben und wie sie zusammenarbeiten.
Als Lead Consultant für Data Engineering begleitet Benedikt den Aufbau von Datenplattformen in der Cloud. Das Planen und Implementieren der Dateninfrastruktur gehört zu seiner täglichen Arbeit mit AWS. Nebenbei verfolgt er die neusten Trends der Cloudanbieter und Open Source Technologien und brennt für alles was mit Daten zu tun hat.
