Vernissage: (HOW) TO BE A SQUARE
Details
On October 9th, the first exhibition by Raum Null openn, and you are cordially invited!
(HOW) TO BE A SQUARE – an exhibition exploring the concept of Spiessigkeit (bourgeois stuffiness/conventionality)
What does it mean to be "square" or conventional today?
Is the retreat into the private sphere—into domesticity and coziness—a reaction to a present increasingly defined by crisis?
Are domesticity and hedonism perhaps two variations of the same movement: a withdrawal from the political realm?
And at what point does withdrawal actually become "square"?
Five artists explore these questions from diverse perspectives and through various artistic media: Maria Felsmann, Robert Graeff, Annika Horn, Emma Mamerow, Rosa-Maria Vogel.

About Raum Null
Raum Null consists of three Berliners working at the intersection of art, culture, academia, and politics. Through Raum Null, they organise events aimed at bringing people together and creating spaces for exchange. They are now presenting their first exhibition at Kunstraum Heartspace.
"We want to actively counter feelings of helplessness and powerlessness and shape a new way of coming together. The present can feel overwhelming at times. Amidst political crises and social division, a sense of powerlessness and a lack of agency can take hold.
We founded Raum Null as a response to this.
Our spaces are intended to be open and free from exclusive subcultural codes; they should be accessible and welcoming, requiring no prior knowledge and imposing no pressure to consume. We want to make art and culture tangible as spaces for reflection, dialogue, and community—and as a means of fostering collective agency."
