On Ritual

Four thousand years before us, on the banks of The Seven Rivers of Indus, the priestly class engaged in a highly elaborate system of disciplines consisting of phonetics, grammar, etymology, meter and astronomy, to properly execute the important rituals they believed were responsible for maintaining the balance of cosmic order itself.

Contemporary to them, the people on the banks of the Nile river in Egypt, also engaged in elaborate and structured tasks, either to guide the dead to the succeeding realm or as simple as to pray for a good harvest.

This meetup's topic is simply, "On Ritual".

Discussing how, the concept of ritual, something which is a set of actions (With their own subsets), repeated over certain intervals, affects the internal or external state of a single person or a large group, is one of the key fundamentals in human nature, and hence it occurs across culture and time.
