Monday Rocks!: Shale

Ever want to know more about the specific rocks around us? Join a state park naturalist for a hike around High Rocks Vistas. For this evening program we will talk about shale and its many forms, as well as its local historical impact.
For this hike, we will cover roughly 3 miles of rocky, uneven, and at times steep terrain. Please be sure to dress in layers for the spring weather, wear appropriate shoes for hiking, and bring water.

Ever wonder what makes a bird a bird? Our avian friends have many qualities that make them unique. Participants will explore replica bird skulls, replica eggs, and real bird feathers and feet. In doing so, we will learn about the different bird families, habitats, types of nests, and adaptations of birds.
For children ages 2-8. Has been rescheduled to rain date of April 10th at 1:30 p.m.

Discover the Clues Animals Leave Behind! Ever wonder how to tell if a wild animal has been nearby? Join us for a fun, hands-on exploration of mammal tracks and scat! Through crafts and activities, students will learn to identify the signs animals leave behind. Participants will make their own "scat" models and design bookmarks featuring animal tracks to take home.
For children ages 5-12. Has been rescheduled to rain date of April 10th at 4:00 p.m.
