Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Details
We travel to Nigeria this time. Adichie's 2006 novel, set in the lead up to the 1967-70 Nigerian Civil War, explores the themes of love, conflict and betrayal in the context of ethnic conflict and post-colonialism.
Adichie herself, who emigrated to the US when she was 19, describes the writing of the novel as a personal journey revisiting her own family history.
It was also banned in Utah and South Carolina for something or another - so that definitely sounds promising.
Location to follow. €2 kindly requested (when I remember) on the night.
