Hello everybody! This will be a pretty early summer hike to castle Lichtenegg and to some impressive rock formations. In spring there are wild flowers on the way.

Wir radeln den ZENNTALRADWEG von STADELN/FÜRTH nach OBERNZENN. Der Weg führt entlang des Flusses Zenn, der Klosteranlage Langenzenn, Neuhoff an der Zenn mit seinem typisch fränkischen Ortskern, den Schlössern in Trautskirchen, Unternzenn und Obernzenn bis hin zum Obernzenner See. Wer sich an den noch etwas frühlingshaften Wassertemperaturen nicht stört, kann hier auch gern ins Wasser hüpfen - also Badesachen nicht vergessen! ;)

Die Strecke beträgt ca. 44km in einer Richtung, hin und zurück also 88km. Inkl. Mittagspause und weiteren kleinen Pausen schätze ich, dass wir ca. 8-9h, also quasi den ganzen Tag unterwegs sein werden :)

TREFFPUNKT ist der FESTPLATZ der KÄRWA in STADELN/FÜRTH (>>>> Bayernstr. 1b, 90765 Fürth <<<<) um 9.30 Uhr am Sa, 24.5. Außerhalb von Kärwa-Zeiten, wird dieser als Parkplatz genutzt.

Bitte denkt daran, eine Jacke, Flickzeug, Werkzeug und Luftpumpe einzupacken, für den Fall dass ihr auf dem Weg einen Platten haben solltet. Falls es mit einem Fahrrad größere Schwierigkeiten geben sollte, oder jemand von der Kondition merken sollte, dass er*sie sich übernommen hat - kommen wir auch an einigen Bahnhöfen vorbei: Wilhermsdorf (nach 22km), Bad Windsheim (nach 57km). Achtung!! Im normalen Routenverlauf fahren wir nicht über Bad Windsheim (sondern von Obernzenn dieselbe Strecke wieder zurück). Bei Bedarf, erreicht man in 13km von Obernzenn jedoch Bad Winsheim, und kann von dort den Zug nehmen, anstatt die 44km zurückzuradeln.

Generell: Es handelt sich um eine mittelschwere Strecke. Es gibt keine größeren Anstiege. Auf dem Hinweg fährt man leicht bergauf, auf dem Rückweg dafür dann bergab :) Schätzt jedoch selbst für euch ein, ob ihr euch die ca. 90km zutraut, damit es auch eine schöne Erfahrung für euch und für die ganze Gruppe wird.

Bei Ankunft in Obernzenn können wir in einem der Restaurants dort Mittag essen. Ihr könnt euch aber auch euer eigenes Essen mitbringen. Generell vergesst bitte nicht, ausreichend Trinken und ein paar Energie-Snacks einzupacken für den ganzen Tag.

We cycle the ZENNTALRADWEG from STADELN/FÜRTH to OBERNZENN. The route goes along the river Zenn, passes the Langenzenn monastery complex, Neuhoff an der Zenn with its typical Franconian town center, the castles in Trautskirchen, Unternzenn and Obernzenn to Lake Obernzenn. If you don't mind the still somewhat spring-like water temperatures, you can also jump into the water here - so don't forget your swimsuit ;)

The route is approx. 44km one way, so 88km back and forth. Including lunch break and other short breaks, I estimate that we will be on the road for about 8-9 hours, i.e. practically the whole day :)

The MEETING POINT is the KÄRWA FAIRGROUND in STADELN/FÜRTH (>>>> Bayernstr. 1b, 90765 Fürth <<<<) at 9.30am on Sat, 24.5.. Outside of Kärwa times, this is used as a parking lot.

Please remember to pack a jacket, repair kit, tools and an air pump in case you have a flat tire on the way. In the cases that there should be any bigger difficulties with a bicycle (that can't be quickly fixed), or if someone realizes that he*she has estimated wrong its own fitness - we will also pass some train stations: Wilhermsdorf (after 22km), Bad Windsheim (after 57km). Attention!! In the normal course of the route we do not pass via Bad Windsheim (instead the idea is to take the same route from Obernzenn back to Stadeln/Fürth). However, if necessary, you can reach Bad Winsheim in 13km from Obernzenn and take the train from there instead of cycling back the 44km.

In general: This is a moderately difficult route. There are no major climbs. On the way to Obernzenn, we cycle slightly uphill, on the way back we cycle downhill :) However, please assess for yourself whether you are fit enough to handle the approx. 90km, so that it will be a great experience for you and the whole group.

On arrival in Obernzenn, we can have lunch in one of the restaurants there. You can also bring your own food. In general, please don't forget to pack enough to drink and some energy snacks for the whole day.
