Did you know you can make your own string from the wild plants around you? Want to spend an afternoon outdoors with other nice people and learn how? The process is meditative and fun!
During the 3 hrs outdoors I will talk about the plant we are using (this time it’s Stinging Nettles), how to go about gathering (responsibly), drying and preparing the plant for string making. We will do a bit of gathering ourselves, we’ll prep our fresh stems, I will demonstrate the string making technique and then we will start twisting up our string together!
Strengthen your connection to nature, yourself, and others, all while learning a new skill. Leave with a pretty bundle of string that you can use to wrap gifts, wear, or simply admire. Perfect for literally anyone who just wants to sit with cool people in a pretty place and make beautiful, useful things.
I will prepare all the materials and bring some tools.
You will leave with a small bundle of string and some fresh stems which you can then dry and make more string with.
What to wear/bring: scissors or small shears, protective gardening or work gloves (to avoid stings), water, snacks, sun protection (we will sit in a shady spot but the sun can shift), something comfy and moisture resistant to sit on (perhaps a small chair), pen & notebook to take notes (optional).
Cost: The material preparation work involves gathering and preparing dozens of stems in advance, so there’s a small fee (€25) for this event to offset that time cost. But I never want money to be the reason why someone can't join, so if you can't afford the fee, send me a DM and we’ll figure something out :)
