📣 TALKS

Mutation Testing with Stryker, Marco Emrich (@marcoemrich)

What's up with Redux?, Lenz Weber (@phry)

If you are writing Redux, you might be writing code with switch..case reducers, ACTION_TYPES, immutable reducer logic and tons of files for everything, everywhere. But did you know that Redux has moved on? Modern Redux is about 1/4 of the code you might be used to - and data fetching has entirely been taken care of.
In fact, even `createStore` is deprecated nowadays.
So - what's up with Redux? What has changed over the last few years and how does modern Redux look? Come and watch a Redux maintainer walk you through it.

Lenz Weber-Tronic works as a FullStack developer at Mayflower. Apart from that he spends a ton of time working with the Redux community making sure that everyone has a smooth experience.

Why should I care about diversity in tech (as a white male mid 30 stereotype IT guy) and ACT, Robin Böhm (@robinboehm)

In my opinion, tech is the infrastructure of the world. It's like the common layer that connects us all. Everyone in our society. It's built by a really small group of people. And they build it with the best intentions and often for higher goals. There is no intention to exclude anyone. But we do. A lot. Without knowing and seeing it. I can tell you for myself.

I've built a network of tech people where everybody is welcome. So I didn't actively reach out to special people. It was more like a natural process. "Hey buddy, do you need someone for React". This is how "I" like it and would do the same when I would apply for such a network. But "I" am not a mirror for everybody in our society. So I attracted only people that "tick like me". This natural process ended in 50 clones of myself in this network.

My talk is about awareness, common mistakes, and where to get help.

It should not be the task of the minorities to talk about diversity in tech. They often have enough burdens and obstacles that need their focus and energy. As a privileged white male with an early addiction to IT, I was really lucky and had no big obstacles in my career. So I have the voice and the reach to change something. So many of you have too.
