We host two friendly conversation groups in a local cafe every week.
Our conversations are an opportunity for people who have moved here from overseas to:
• meet others they might not usually meet
• expand their language skills
• share stories, experiences and ideas
• develop new insights
• build friendships
• gain confidence
• learn about their local area
• and feel more at home in Leith.
The conversation hosts have a wide knowledge of support agencies, information services and local activities that they can share with participants when it is helpful. And three times a month we also invite workers from other organisations to join in our conversations and to share information with the group.
The conversations are gently structured so that everyone has a chance to speak and be heard, however shy or confident they feel and no matter how many words of English they know.
