Über uns

We are a friendly and inclusive group of native and non-native Italian speakers who likes to socialise but also discover interesting things about Italy and Italian speaking counties/regions. Not just meet in the pub and mingle but also activities to discover aspects of Italian lifestyle and culture (with a small c).
The only language spoken in the group is Italian. We don’t teach Italian; we just speak it. With us it’s like being in a restaurant in Italy and talk with other Italian speakers about different topics. Therefore, this group is Not suitable for beginners.
Because it is not always easy to find something to say with strangers or when one is a bit shy, I facilitate each event by proposing activities, games, and topics for conversation. I can assure the times will go very fast and not only you will have a good laugh and learn interesting and / or fun things but also meet interesting and friendly people who share the same passion.
We like to talk about anything related to Italian speaking countries, music, cinema, etc You can look at our past events to get an idea. We also organise Non-standard events like dinners, cinema events, concerts, picnics etc.
We meet on Friday or Saturday for a couple of hours
Attendance:
This group / social if not for ‘group collectors’ i.e. those people who just join lots of groups but do not attend any of them, just like those who like to Watch rather than Do😉. I'd expect members to attend at least 2 or 3 events a year.
Joining:
For privacy and security considerations for all of our members, I will personally approve each new member’s request making sure I reject the many ‘bots’ / fake profile by also asking a couple of simple questions.

Contribution
To help us pay for Meetup membership, photocopies, etc there is a contribution of £3 per event to be sent online via Revolut, Monzo, Starling or Paypal.
Also, to encourage people to attend at least one event, we request any new joiner to send their £3 upon joining the group. This will allow them to attend a free event in the first year. Experience shows that by sending £3, people find the time to attend.
Please make sure you read The Reservation / Cancellation Process:
- You need to RSVP (reserve) if you want to attend an event. You cannot just turn up at the event as we have limited space and we need to print the activity based on the number of attendees
- If you can no longer attend, you can cancel your reservation. This gives other people the chance to attend and me to plan how much material I need to preparing/bring. You are also welcome to write a message on the event to say you cannot make it and that you are looking forward to the next one 😉 A group / social is about making friends so it’s all about being nice and friendly
Communication
If you have not attended an event for many months, you may get a message from us to check that you are OK. It’s a friendly gesture and we also like a friendly reply as we are a social after all😊
