This is a group for Millennials/Gen Y folks who want to get out around Portland and meet more people. As one of the group's organizers (Hi, I'm Jay [they/them]!), this group has helped to create friendships and community for myself and others. Follow us on Instagram (@portlandmillennialsmeetup) for more happenings around Portland beyond our events.
I strive toward planning low-barrier and inclusive events, meaning that people of all backgrounds and abilities can participate. I look for opportunities for low cost and alcohol-free activities. Unfortunately, option can be limited by weather and venues suitable for our size group to hang out. I encourage anyone in the community who is interested in planning additional events to contact me. More organizers and more events are very welcome!
The values of this group are anti-racist and welcoming to people of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, abilities, and neurodivergence. I try to approach conflict with curiosity and encourage the practice of "calling in" someone in response to a prejudiced comment, but harassment or disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.
The group's age demographic provides a common ground for building community within our cohort. Please reach out if you fall outside of Gen Y and are having trouble finding meetup groups.
A few more guidelines: If you sign up for an event, please try to keep to your commitment. If your plans change at any time, you should change your RSVP status. Members who have been inactive (i.e. haven't visited the website) for 3+ years will be removed from the group, but can rejoin at any time.
Wait lists: Some events fill up fast, but please join the wait list if you're interested in coming. People often get moved off the wait list. If there's a long wait list, I'll know to host a similar event soon.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting out and about!

Volunteer with Maine Needs!
Maine Needs, 2385 Congress St, Portland, ME, USLet's do some good! We'll be volunteering for a 2-hour shift at Maine Needs. During this time, we'll help sort donations or fill requests made by providers throughout the state.
Everyone will need to register with Maine Needs to attend: Click Here. Do not show up without pre-registering with Maine Needs.
If you're unfamiliar with Maine Needs, it a community-based non-profit that accepts donations such as new or gently used clothing, hygiene or cleaning kits, new books/toys and works with other agencies and providers throughout the state to meet basic needs for individuals. Instead of organizations spending their time trying to track down in-kind donations, Maine Needs collects, sorts and distributes items state-wide so that organizations can provide basic-necessities while focusing on the other services they provide.
Here's what to expect:
-Upon arrival, you'll be directed to put personal items in the locker room/storage area
-A Shift Leader or Staff Member will give a small tour and explain what they need us to do for the shift.
-You'll be given tasks - this could be helping with processing incoming donations (sorting clothing, checking that clothes are appropriate to be given out to clients), completing inventory and restocking shelves or fulfilling requests (you are given a request and a card, then you find the items being requested and pack them up). What to bring?
-A re-usable water bottle or something to drink
-Comfortable shoes
-Layers - sometimes it's a bit cold if you're helping bring in donations, but you'll warm up as you are moving aroundNote: This is for us to volunteer our time - in-kind or financial donations are not expected (but welcome if you choose to donate).
Please check out their website for more information: https://www.maineneeds.org/.

Trivia @ Argenta
Argenta Brewing Company, 82 Hanover St Suite 6, Portland, ME, USWe're going to trivia at Argenta Brewing! Meet us there at 5:30pm to hang out and get settled in before trivia starts at 6pm. Team size limit is 8 people.
Argenta has its menu online which includes mostly lagers and a few nonalcoholic drinks. Popcorn is free! Hank & Artie's food truck is right outside too.
Getting there: Argenta is located in the Bayside neighborhood. There is free hourly street parking in the neighborhood but you might have to park a couple blocks away. Hourly parking limits don't apply after 6pm.
Portland is overall a very safe city, but I've gotten feedback that not everyone feels safe walking in this neighborhood alone. Just keep this in mind whether you decide to walk, drive, or take public transit.
I'll post updates in the comments so keep an eye out for those notifications. Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.

dir. Grace Glowicki
96 min.PRESENTED IN GLORIOUS STINK-O-VISION, A PREMIUM SCRATCH AND SNIFF EXPERIENCE.
A lonely gravedigger who stinks of corpses finally meets her dream man, but their whirlwind affair is cut short when he tragically drowns at sea. Grief-stricken, she goes to morbid lengths to resurrect him through madcap experiments.
The Dead Lover Stink-O-Vision screenings turn cinema into a full-body experience. Each audience member receives a scratch-and-sniff card created by scent artists, unleashing a carefully choreographed bouquet of aromas—funky, foul, seductive, and downright unholy—that sync with key moments in the film. From grave-dirt rot to dandy cologne, ghost puke to BBQ stank, the smells guide viewers through a journey of fetid, funky love where romance and revulsion collide.
For fans of Rocky Horror, Monty Python, Death Becomes Her, Frankenhooker, John Waters and all things stanky. Grace Glowicki’s 16mm riff on Frankenstein is a zany fever dream of lush colors and gender-bending performances by its cast of four, who play multiple characters. Shot on a black box stage with stunning production design, Dead Lover is an experience you’ll never forget.
