The Road Trip Trade -Tom Nunamaker, Co-founder of Capital Discussions
Details
If you follow other active options groups such as Capital Discussions, Options Tribe or John Locke's, you will be aware that people are taking a keen interest in a new trade called Road Trip, designed to be straightforward, slow and reliable. This may be just the kind of trade you want if taking a long road trip where you had limited time to spend following the trade every day. But it also appealing for anyone looking for a great trade that does require as much daily management as others. Often no adjustments are needed in the first 30 days.
The Road Trip video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7Vs-pa_yus) has had over 2100 views and is the most popular video in the entire Capital Discussions library. Many traders are trading this trade now.
We contacted Capital Discussions co-founder and veteran options trader Tom Nunamaker and asked if he might present it to our group from where he is, and we are delighted that Tom has very generously agreed to do so. Tom collaborates with Road Trip (and Weirdor) inventor Dan Harvey ( see http://www.option-wizard.com/features/SFO%20200811_Dan%20Harvey%20Reprint.pdf ). Dan normally asks Tom to present the trade.
A couple of our members are already trading Road Trip. It has similarities to M3 (although it is simpler) for those who have been looking at that with us, and this talk should help understand both.
The Road Trip trade uses a put butterfly of long-dated SPX options. (A butterfly involves two short options at a central strike price, surrounded by two long legs at strikes above and below, to limit risk on an adverse move.)
Tom has kindly offered to go into some detailed discussion of Adjustments. He is a very clear and patient presenter and will be receptive to iterating to answer your questions and issues with it at any levels, including new trader. In fact, we definitely aim to include less experienced traders in the group that will benefit from this talk.
Tom knows all major strategies, and trades a number of them, so he can answer questions on other strategies as well.
Since Tom is in a European time zone, we offered to schedule this talk on the weekend so that the time is convenient for everyone.
We will also certainly ask Tom about his Capital Discussions forum and related activities.
The first part of this meeting will be shared live, simultaneously, by Capital Discussions as a webinar at https://3141.webex.com/3141/onstage/g.php?t=a&d=628618975 . If you cannot make it to our meeting in person, please join that. However, please do come in person if you are here in our area, as only people in the room will have full interaction. We will have a much longer meeting in our meeting room, along with comments from our members who are trading Road Trip, and broader discussion including ongoing trading and testing that some of us are doing.
Reference: We will cover the rules in the talk, but for reference, the full rules are at http://www.travelsandtrades.com/?tag=road-trip-trade .
