High performance concurrent data structures in Rust - March Meetup

Details

This month we are hosted by Zühlke and we are looking forward to two talks 🦀🎉
Please note that Schlieren is in ZVV Zone 154, not 110. So you will need all three (110 counts twice) zones.

How to build a multi-threaded queue? - by Adrian Alic
Writing performant concurrent data structures in Rust can be challenging, and often requires subversion of Rust's ownership guarantees. In this talk I'll be using a multi-producer single-consumer queue as a case study for writing performant code, crafting safe abstractions, sniffing out undefined behaviour & concurrency issues, and avoiding pitfalls during benchmarking.

Introduction to Rust programming on bare metal hardware - by Mike Kefeder
Update: In this talk we will look at embedded Rust programming, specifically communication between the host and the microcontroller, and how Mike builds software on and with the Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040). There will be a demo so let us all send good vibes to the live demo gods.

Timeline:

  • 18:00 Doors open
  • 18:15 First talk
  • 5min speaker change break
  • 19:00 Second talk
  • after 19:45 Drinks and Snacks thank you Zühlke!

We are looking for more speakers:
Who will it be? What will the topic be? If you want to submit your guess or proposal, write us in our Matrix room:

Rust Zürisee:
We are looking a volunteer that will help us organise and run the events
and room sponsors that will host us in the fall.
