Welcome to Adventure People! This group is for everyone who loves to hike, kayak, rock climb, and anything that gets us outdoors. We have a team of organizers who schedule local outdoor activities, social events, and weekend camping trips. We also do small group trips to destinations around the world.
Some of the things we've done include watching the Northern Lights in Iceland, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, rappelling down waterfalls in Costa Rica, trekking on a glacier in Argentina, hiking the W Trek in Chile, climbing a volcano in Hawaii, visiting the country's national parks, exploring the world's most spectacular caves in Vietnam, salsa dancing lessons in Cuba, and that's just a few.
Adventure People all have one thing in common, we want to travel the world and have fun doing it. We're explorers, not tourists. Regardless of where you go and what you do, it's the people you share the experience with that you'll remember the most. What you'll find in Adventure People is that we're a fun, active, adventurous, welcoming group of friends. By joining our community and participating in our local and international trips, you'll not only have a new group of friends but new travel companions with whom you'll want to share more experiences. That's why you'll always see repeat travelers on all of our trips!

🏞️🌄Overnight Wilderness Journey: TopaTopa Bluff, Sisar Peak & WhiteLedge Camp
Old Mission, 2201 Laguna Street, Santa Barbara, CA, USRising sharply above the Ojai Valley, Topa Topa Bluff is one of Southern California’s most striking and iconic Matilija sandstone formations - visible from miles away, as far south as Ventura. Its sheer presence feels like an invitation to explore what lies beyond the horizon.
This overnight adventure begins along the Sisar Canyon Trail, following in and out of the winding flow of Sisar Creek, where the sound of flowing water accompanies the hike deeper into the backcountry.
This time of the year should be quite ideal conditions: crisp air, flowing creeks, and the spring wildflowers adding bursts of color to the canyons and ridgelines—a beautiful and pleasant time for the journey.
By afternoon, we should arrive at White Ledge Camp, one of the most serene and distinctive campsites in the region. Tucked into a dense forest of towering sycamores and giant California bay trees—the largest I’ve ever encountered—the camp feels like a hidden sanctuary. Pristine Sisar Creek borders the eastern edge of the site, providing a constant calming presence. As night falls, a crackling campfire and a simple back country meal turn the forest into a cathedral of shadows, stars, and stillness.
Day two is mostly about elevation climb and exploration. From camp, the trail climbs toward Sisar Peak and onward to Topa Topa Bluff, where sweeping panoramic views reward the strenuous effort. From this lofty perch, the landscape opens wide—Ojai below, the Channel Islands on clear days, and endless ridges rolling toward the horizon. It’s the kind of place that makes the miles feel worthwhile and the solitude feel profound.
This trip isn’t just a hike—it’s a true wilderness life experience, blending rugged terrain, hidden camps, flowing water, and iconic summits into an unforgettable overnight adventure.

🏞️🌞🌿 Rock Garden, Flores Peak, Gibraltar Rock, via Rattlesnake Canyon
Rattlesnake Canyon Trailhead, 1899, 1783 Las Canoas Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105, Santa Barbara, CA, USWe will start the hike & explore adventure from beautiful Rattlesnake Canyon, hiking on trail and in combination of exploring in the scenic creek, flowing parallel and in close proximity to the main trail. After about 2.4 miles, we would connect to Gibraltar Rd, to get to Flores Peak and Gibraltar Rock. The creek traverse could be a new experience and adventure, and is done by exciting rock hopping, hiking over and around water, or wading, depending on skills and preference.
Flores Peak, at 3340’ above sea level, is a beautiful hilltop with great views of the cities and ocean below. And quite often there are para-gliders circling above the sky and over the horizon, and people doing slacklining and highlining over the canyons. There is some scenic scrambling on the way to the peak. After the descent, we would check out Gibraltar Rock, a popular landmark for rock climbers.
From Gibraltar Rock, we would head over to White Mountain Rock Garden. At 3700’ above sea level, this area is a beautiful, vast, and whitish sandstone boulder fields on the Santa Ynez Mountains, visible from many parts of Santa Barbara and the coastlines below. This is one of Santa Barbara's most exciting places for hiking, boulder climbing and adventurous exploring. This area has great panoramic views overseeing the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands, Santa Barbara, and the surrounding coastal towns. Also one of the most beautiful settings to enjoy the sun setting.
🏞️🌿🌞💧🌄 Overall, this hike would be an adventure and great workout in some of the most beautiful and distinctive natural environments, around Santa Barbara or anywhere else.

🏞️ Matilija Falls Exploring Adventure
The Old Mission, 2201 Laguna Street, Santa Barbara, CA, USThis wild nature is one of the most pristine, beautiful, exciting and fascinating places I have ever been to. More pristine and beautiful than Santa Paula Punchbowls and all other trails around Ojai. More beautiful than Dragon's Back Ridge to Arlington, Tangerine Falls, and Seven Falls in Santa Barbara, yet also more remote and wild - many miles of almost off trail wilderness bush and creek traverse: uneven & rocky terrain, slippery surface, wading, rock hopping, boulder climbing, unstable shale rock wall climbing.
I have been to this wilderness twice last year, and have been wanting to go back and explore further when the vibrant wild flowers in this unique wilderness are blooming again. I expect this trip to be another very beautiful and exciting experience of a lifetime.
To join, above all else, you must have proven expertise and adequate safety acumen in similar wild environments. Plus practical wilderness knowledge. Penalty for carelessness, mistake, and inaccurate assessment are quite serious injuries.🏞️🌿🌞💧🌄 Overall, this hike would be an exciting and distinctive adventure, and great workout in some of the most beautiful and natural environments.

Ojai: Wills-Rice Loop Trail & Ventura River Exploring
Ventura River Preserve - Oso Trailhead, 1290 Meyer Rd, Ojai, CA, USWills-Rice Loop Trail should be beautiful this time of the year, with various spring flowers. The hike is relatively easy, 4.8 miles, 500’ of elevation change. After the completion of this hike, you have the opportunity to explore the scenic Ventura River, by hiking along the river banks, wading, rock hopping, or a combination, and experience the Ventura River Preserve from a different perspective. We will explore the river all the way to the bridge/ Hwy 150, and turn back, for an additional 5 mile estimate of a fun workout. This is also a testing ground to find out if you may be interested in more challenging adventures, such as to Santa Paula Punchbowls and Matilija Wilderness.
