Welcome! Munich-based but English speaking.
Join us for an hour (or two) of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you’ve written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE (roughly):
1:00-1:20ish - chat & intros.
1:20 - timer starts. Heads-down writing for 1 hour.
2:20 - chat / take off / keep writing for another timed hour (starting at ~2:45).
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens after we’re done with the first/second writing hour. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. (The music in the hotel is usually Ambient Electro-Swing, like the lighter stuff from Mocean Worker or Beats Antique)
Unfortunately, there are not as many power outlets as writers; make sure to charge your laptops before you come. :)
Other Important Details:
There is free WiFi.
If coming by train, take the U3 to Oberwiesenfeld, and use Exit D. The hotel will be right at the top of the stairs. If driving, there is a park-and-ride across the street. (Fancy picture directions: https://imgur.com/a/Iei0dIl)
Go in the front door and turn left past reception. The cafe will be just ahead. I’ll be the one with the Shut Up & Write sign on the table. We're usually way in the back. ;D
There is a cafe counter with lots of drink options and snacks/pastries. Please thank our hosts by purchasing something.
