The Tech Meetup is a monthly excuse for the tech community around Scotland to network, learn and share new ideas! Come along to enjoy informative presentations from your peers, listen to exciting projects in the community and make some new connections.
No specific programming languages, technologies or disciplines are required - we believe you can learn something from anyone! No sales pitches, name badges or commitments either - everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the free pizza, drinks and talks.
The Tech Meetup is run by volunteers from the tech community in each city/region and is governed by a code of conduct. The event space, food and drinks are all kindly provided by sponsors and supporters of the meetup.

Everything Is Fine. (Another Talk About AI)AI is moving faster than most people and most organisations can fully understand, which is not usually how we like to introduce technologies that may reshape society.
In this talk, we step back and look at the full picture: the history of AI, the current explosion of capabilities, and the uncomfortable questions about where this is all going.
We will explore what AI can genuinely do today, what it cannot, and the risks we may be underestimating, including systemic bias, loss of control, and unintended consequences at scale.
Because the real question is not whether AI will change the world. It is whether we are shaping that change, or just reacting to it.Speaker 2 - Michael Smith https://www.linkedin.com/in/mikeysmithuk/
Operating in the AI Gap
AI has become the latest thing the world demands you pick a side on. But the most valuable place to operate isn't either extreme, it's the gap between them. Drawing on real moments and hard-won experience shipping AI systems, this talk argues that the real shift isn't how you build software, it's what's worth building at all.The build/buy decision has moved, team shapes are changing, and most organisations are still asking the wrong question. You'll leave with a clear framework for thinking about AI precisely, and one question to take back to your team that will expose where your strategy is still anchored in constraints that no longer exist.
Lastly, Tech Meetup couldnāt be brought to you without our amazing sponsors, so a huge thank you to:
We look forward to seeing you all soon, for great talks, networking, pizza and drinks!
