The Rise and Fall of the WeimarRepublic

The Monarchy fell during WWI and Germany declared itself a Republic in 1918. Various groups jostled for power amid crushing hyperinflation until a period of relative stability in 1923. Then the stock market crash destroyed the economy in 1929 and Hitler came to power in 1933. We will attempt to learn more about life in this period and how and why this happened at the Deutsches Historical Museum exhibition: Weimar: The Essence and Value of Democracy
