Hey everybody! Learning English or any language requires consistency, motivation, and of course FUN! If you're looking for a new challenge and a comfortable learning environment, come and join this group for a nice discussion or debate!
My goal with this group is to create an enjoyable atmosphere outside of the classroom for people to improve their English through conversation. This will typically be for learners of an intermediate+ level to expand their vocabulary and comfort level through conversation. I want to focus on topics that are interesting, provocative, current, or just enjoyable.
Who should come?
Anyone at an intermediate level or higher who wants to improve their conversational skills. I also want to encourage people to remain open-minded, caring, patient, and supportive of other learners. Please treat people with respect and even if there is a controversial topic, try to focus on why we are here.... to learn English and not to put others down or argue in an unconstructive or hurtful way.
Everyone is welcome, please no hate, racism, sexism, etc. Treat others kindly so we can have some fun and improve step by step by step towards achieving your English goals.
About me:
My name is Kyle and I've been teaching in Berlin since 2018. This is my profession and my goal is to help you all to achieve your goals. I've noticed that not everyone likes to work on grammar worksheets all the time but would rather discuss things they are passionate about or interested in. I see students light up when we have debates and discussions and that's what I'm seeking to recreate in an easy-going atmosphere. I will, of course, guide the conversation constructively with help ranging from vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, idioms, slang, and more!
I will try to choose venues where we can have a nice space, grab a drink or some snacks, and duel it out over touchy topics such as Nuclear energy, legalization of drugs, universal basic income, artificial intelligence taking over, and so on... I'm always up for suggestions and will make it a closing tradition to vote on a new topic for the next meeting.
This is a free event but donations are always welcome and appreciated if you enjoy the event and want to keep it going!
