Fermented Histories: Koryo Saram Cuisine
Fermented Histories: Koryo Saram Cuisine
Fermentation and Pickling as Culinary and Cultural Practice: Exploring Koryo Saram Cuisine and Intangible Heritage with Tobias Stefan (HU Berlin) Join us for a Fermenta Collective workshop that delves into fermentation not only as a culinary technique, but also as a form of intangible cultural heritage. This session places a special focus on Koryo Saram cuisine - the food traditions of the Korean diaspora community in Central Asia, formed largely through the forced deportations of Koreans within the Soviet Union in 1937. Koryo Saram foodways have evolved in unique ways, distinct from contemporary Korean cuisine on the peninsula. Through generations, communities adapted their culinary practices to Central Asian tastes, ingredients, and environments. Today, their dishes have become an integral part of the broader Central Asian culinary landscape. In this workshop, we will explore these traditions through practice and conversation: • Learn about the history and everyday cultural significance of Koryo Saram cuisine, with insights from Tobias’ doctoral research in social and cultural anthropology focusing on Koryo Saram heritage in Uzbekistan • Prepare morkovcha, the iconic Koryo Saram carrot salad - often referred to as Koryo Saram carrot kimchi • Make our own chimchi, a Koryo Saram version of kimchi to take home • Enjoy our dishes alongside staples of Central Asian cuisine As someone with family roots in Central Asia, Tobias is looking forward to sharing not only techniques and recipes, but also the personal and historical stories that make Koryo Saram food a rich expression of intangible cultural heritage.

The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingū) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history. The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Postpartum Decoded — Week 2: Your Brain and Nervous System
Postpartum Decoded — Week 2: Your Brain and Nervous System
**(Tickets and booking: https://www.lumiberlin.de/postpartum-decoded)** Your body after birth is not broken. It's doing something extraordinarily complex — and nobody explained it to you. Postpartum Decoded is a four-week workshop series that changes that. Every Friday in June, Paola Carrillo Bustamante — computational biologist, biomedical engineer, and mother — brings the real science of postpartum recovery into the room. Not as a list of symptoms to fix, but as a connected system to finally understand. Each session covers a different layer: **Week 1 (5 June) — Your Body as a System** Hormones, tissue repair, brain and nervous system — why recovery is a spiral, not a sprint. **Week 2 (12 June) — Your Brain and Nervous System** The neuroscience behind the fog, the identity shift, and intrusive thoughts — plus tools that actually help. **Week 3 (19 June) — Fuelling and Rebuilding Your Foundation** Why you feel depleted, what your body needs to rebuild, and why Kegels alone aren't the answer. **Week 4 (26 June) — Integration and What Comes Next** Bringing it all together and building your personalised roadmap forward. No platitudes. No bounce-back narratives. Just honest, science-backed information held with warmth and lived experience. **📍 LUMI Yoga & Pilates · Heidestraße 19, 10557 Berlin** **🕙 Fridays 10:00–12:00** **🎟 €25 per session · €85 for the full series** **Tickets and booking:** https://www.lumiberlin.de/postpartum-decoded

Lesen. Schreiben. Teilen.
Lesen. Schreiben. Teilen.

Berlin Singles Relational Lab — Facilitated Connection Experience
Berlin Singles Relational Lab — Facilitated Connection Experience
Tired of dating apps or surface-level social events? This is different. Relational Labs is a guided connection experience for singles who want more honest, playful, emotionally intelligent interaction — without performance, pressure, or endless small talk. This is not speed dating. Not networking. Not “pitch yourself to strangers.” It’s a facilitated relational container rooted in psychology, emotional intelligence, attachment work, social dynamics, nervous system awareness, and real-world human connection — made practical enough that you can actually live it instead of reading another 50 books about it. ## What happens • A 2-hour guided online relational experience • Real-time connection exercises designed to create authentic interaction • A format that adapts in real time to whoever is present • Optional participant-led in-person continuation afterward • WhatsApp connection thread after the session ## This may be for you if: • You’re tired of shallow or repetitive social spaces • You want deeper connection without forced intimacy • You enjoy personal growth, psychology, communication, or relational work • You’re open to meeting people in a more intentional way ## Important This experience runs with whoever is present and takes its own shape each time. Sometimes expansive. Sometimes intimate. Both are the real thing. Booking happens through our website. 👉 Reserve your spot: [https://consciousconnectionsclub.com/join](https://consciousconnectionsclub.com/join) Optional in-person continuation: same day or within 48 hours depending on the city Most people come alone. People often leave surprised by how quickly strangers can feel human, warm, honest, and real. Sometimes awkwardness turns into ease. Sometimes curiosity turns into chemistry. Sometimes people simply remember what it feels like to actually connect again.
MBTI Summer Meetup ☀️🌳✨@ Monbijou Park
MBTI Summer Meetup ☀️🌳✨@ Monbijou Park
Hi everyone, join us on Sunday, June 14, at Monbijou Park for a fun afternoon all about MBTI and other interesting topics. Whether you’re deep into cognitive function theory or you just heard about MBTI this week, we’re happy to have you here. Looking forward to seeing you there! Our group aims to bring together people who are interested in self-development and self-improvement using MBTI and cognitive functions, in order to learn more about the theory and share our experiences with it. Another reason for this meetup is to meet people with whom you might potentially get along really well based on your type. This can lead to meaningful connections :)
Although the meetup is geared towards people who are interested in learning about MBTI theory and using it to improve their lives, our conversations aren’t only about that! We talk about anything and everything. So it's more like a regular social meetup with the aim of avoiding small talk :)

Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code* Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD

Smart Search + AI: An Outcome-Driven Journey from IDP to a Suite of AI
Over a billion documents processed. Millions of Veterans impacted. Hundreds of thousands of employee hours saved. Faster decisions. Greater accuracy. More benefits in the hands of our disabled Veterans. We created Smart Search, the world’s largest consumer of Amazon Textract, right when GenAI began reshaping what’s possible. Since then, we’ve built a suite of AI‑driven solutions that transform this data into real, measurable outcomes—accelerating benefits decisions for our Nation’s Veterans. Join us for a focused conversation on how an outcome‑driven approach to AI is helping us boost accuracy, streamline workflows, and deliver faster results for those who have served. This is a follow up to the AWS re:Invent 2023 "Intelligent Document Processing with Gen AI for Public Sector" presentation.
