Practice German Online! Intermediate & Advanced Level (B2-C1)
Practice German Online! Intermediate & Advanced Level (B2-C1)
You are studying German but you don't get a chance to practice speaking? In our conversation class you can practice and fine tune your German in a structured class, guided by an experienced German teacher. Get the Berlin Connection membership https://berlinconnection.io/ for up to 5 conversation classes per week, podcasts worksheets and writing practice. Plans start at 20 EUR per month. Or: Try one class here for 5 EUR. It's a great chance to practice your German, develop your conversation skills and meet interesting people. A positive and supportive ambiance will make you talk better in no time. Improved fluency and pronunciation, an extended vocabulary and personal feedback will give you confidence in future conversations in your job or private life. How does it work online? Please take time at least 10 minutes before the event to pay and register for an account at http://zoom.us (in case you don't have one already). In each session we have a new topic and will tackle a variety of vocabulary. We will use the breakout feature of Zoom. You will get different discussion points and speak one-on-one with 3-4 other German learners in a separate chat room. After around 5-10 minutes I'll join your room and you'll give me an account of your conversation. I'll then correct your German and give you personalized feedback. After that you'll be assigned to a new group and discuss a new point. Are there requirements? If you already started B2 - you are ready! Why is there a fee? Hosting a meetup is not free. The €5 fee covers the Meetup organizer fee, the zoom membership fee, the preparation and the teaching of the class. Note: This meetup is part of a network with more members on other platforms. The number of attendees indicated here is not the actual number! Feel free to contact me if you should have any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing you! Nadine

Hack Night - Code for KC
Register here for the Zoom link to kick off the meeting: https://kcdigitaldrive.zoom.us/j/84232981632?pwd=MFB0Qm0yQXIyWGw4VC9iMEJxWDQ5Zz09 The Zoom link is the same week-to-week, but we ask you to register each week. ######## IMPORTANT NOTE: We are taking a hiatus from our in-person Hack Nights as we deal with the implications of COVID-19. We encourage teams to continue project work and to meet virtually from 6:00-8:00pm on Mondays. Our ability to provide pizza and snacks will be compromised, however :). Individual teams will have access to video breakouts via Zoom. You can use Slack for breakout rooms if you like. We are also exploring possible projects we could take on to help address this public health emergency. Please email codeforkc@kcdigitaldrive.org if you have any questions or are interested in working on immediate public health-related projects. Thanks, Aaron, Paul, and the rest of the Core Team ######## Interested in helping the Kansas City area? Great! Whether or not you know how to code, you can help by joining us to work on civic hacking to create a better Kansas City and surrounding cities. Bring projects, ideas, designs, laptops, data, and friends. Meeting Format 6:00 - Kickoff and Introductions 6:15 - go into breakout rooms 8:00 - Wrap-up "Pitch Nights," TBD when we have a slot for new project pitches during kickoff; "Learn Nights," TBD where we have community speakers on civic tech topics from 6:30-7:30pm. Please RSVP so that we know how many snacks & drinks to bring. Civic Heroes of all types welcome! This event is for coders and non-coders alike -- as long as you're interested in making government more transparent and building interesting things for our city, you're more than welcome! If you have something you'd like to work on or are excited about, please let us know via the meetup or at the hack night itself. We are growing our initiative and the energy comes from the community. Fit with Parkinson's (Zoom indoor class)
Fit with Parkinson's (Zoom indoor class)
Exercise can slow down the progression of Parkinson’s, and Covid 19 Quarantine is no reason not to move! Join our fun online class and stay fit and healthy. Our ‘Nordic Neuro Magic’ is a new exercise class designed for people in the early stage of Parkinson’s and their friends or partners who can walk, are at a low risk of falls and have no major other health concerns. Inspired by PD Warrior, we run especially designed classes, designed to slow down the progression of Parkinson’s. Our members love it, and we can really see the difference in the members who have been with us for a while! Now we are all in Quarantine during the Covid 19 outbreak, we have adapted our outdoor classes to an interarctive online session twice a week. So join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 11am for this fun and fast paced session. If you have 1.5×1.5 meter space, a sturdy chair without arm rests and an internet connection, you are good to go. It is sociable, fun, and keeps you in the best shape you can be, without ever leaving your home. The classes are based around 7 key principles: o Powerful o Complex o Frequent o High effort o Meaningful in daily life o Specific to symptoms o Fun! Once we can get back to Nordic Walking we will! Please keep an eye out for our outdoor classes when quarantine time is over. New to Fit and Happy Outdoors? Please email me on ailien@fitandhappyoutdoors.com or send me a personal message through Meetup at least 24 hours before the session you would like to join. That will give me enough time to get back to you and discuss your needs and find out a bit more about you. Once signed up we will send you a link to our Zoom meeting, as well as the password. Cost: £150 per 10 sessions or £90 per month for unrestricted access to all our classes. Your partner can join your session for free. Pay What Works: The price shown above is the “true” value of the session that best reflects the work I put into preparing and leading your session. However, I understand that not everyone can afford to pay full price, and I don’t want that to stop you from joining us. In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy I provide in creating and delivering these classes. Then send an email to ailien@fitandhappyoutdoors.com with the heading “INVOICE please”- followed by “FAHO 1” to pay full price as quoted below, “FAHO 2”, for 20% off, or “FAHO 3” for 50% off. Pllease do tell me if you want to pay for 10 sessions, or if you’d like to pay monthly. I prefer payment by bank transfer, but if that is not possible you could post me a cheque, made out to Ailien Rhijnsburger.

You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'! COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
