Welcome to the first meeting of the 20th Century World Literature Book Club Zurich! For our first book, we’ll be reading *Chronicle of a Death Foretold*, a short, gripping, and beautifully written novel by Colombian author and Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez. First published in 1981, it tells the story of a killing that everyone knows is coming, yet somehow no one stops. We’ll meet in English for a friendly, open discussion. No academic background is needed — just read the book, bring your thoughts, and join the conversation. This first book has been chosen by the organizer to get the club started. For this session, we do exactly that: read the text together, paragraph by paragraph, in the tradition of a philosophy seminar.
