Live @ Lakeline May 15 WILCO Symphony
Live @ Lakeline May 15 WILCO Symphony
**Come out and enjoy live music, food, and fun at Lakeline Park! Bring your lawn chair or share a blanket and relax by the lake while enjoying free live entertainment** **Deets from park and rec with some Heather advice sprinkled in:** **There will be food and beverage trucks available starting at 6:30, and the concert starts at 7. There will also be yard games, bubbles and other “kids” activities (that I may or may not also enjoy) and there are some other things as well. Feel free to bring your outdoor activity of choice as appropriate. I have brought my “big” camera, some people bring balls, etc. Maybe I will bring some sort of creative activity to share. We’ll see what Heather feels like on the occasion.** **Dog friendly, inclusive activity.** **I will attempt to arrive by 6 to pick a group spot. I tend to sit farther from the stage to reduce the volume a little bit. Feel free to come and go as necessary. I will hopefully remember to bring both of my picnic blankets which I am happy to share. I recommend bringing your lawn chair if you have one, especially if you have mobility issues.** **This is the final of Live @ Lakeline 2026 concerts and this week is the WILCO Symphony.**
All Aboard for the “Mexican Train!"
All Aboard for the “Mexican Train!"
It doesn't matter if you're a dominoes aficionado or have never played before--if you love to play games and have fun, come join us! Mexican Train is a great game that involves both luck and strategy, but it's easy to learn. We meet monthly, and if you 'd like to have the group meet at your house, I'm sure we'd love to! In the meantime, it's at ours. Bring a sweet or savory snack to share, your favorite beverage AND DOMINOES if you have a set. We chat and chew from 6:30 to 7 and will start playing at 7. (you can continue to snack while we play), but come early to visit and nosh for a bit before we start. BYOB We always end the night with a hilarious game of CATCHPHRASE.

Weather permitting, we usually sit outside! Our group is usually around 5 people, but we have some bigger and smaller days -- we're all busy. Very rarely we'll have only one person show up; our sincerest apologies if that happens to you.

BIG SATURDAY HIKE: Bull Creek to St. Edward's Park Loop
BIG SATURDAY HIKE: Bull Creek to St. Edward's Park Loop
On Saturdays, we TREK 🥾 When I can, I love starting the weekend with a longer, more immersive hike and this one is a good one. On Saturday, May 16 I will be leading a hike on the **Bull Creek to St. Edwards Park Loop Trail**, a scenic route that connects some of the most beautiful natural areas in Austin. **[View the AllTrails route here!](https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/texas/bull-creek-to-st-edwards-park-loop)** **PLEASE NOTE:** This is not a beginner hike. We’ll be covering about **8 miles out-and-back over 4 to 5 hours**, and the terrain is mostly uneven, rocky, and at times a bit rugged. You’ll want to come prepared for a longer effort and be comfortable on your feet. Also, you will need to bring plenty of water (\~0.5 - 1 gallon of water is required), and snacks to keep your energy levels high. That said, **this trail is absolutely worth it.** This stretch follows Bull Creek and winds through lush, shaded areas with limestone bluffs, flowing water, and some of the most peaceful, tucked-away nature spots in the city. There are several creek access points along the way, so we may take short breaks to enjoy the water and reset. We’ll move at a steady, supportive pace and take breaks as needed, but this is definitely more of a “trek” than a casual stroll. **A few quick details:** 🕘 Start time: 10:00AM (We are starting a little earlier this time!) 📍 Meeting point: Upper Bull Creek Greenbelt trailhead (exact pin linked below) 🥾 Distance: 8 miles (out-and-back) ⏱ Duration: \~4–5 hours **🐶🚫 Dogs are NOT allowed on this trail** 💧 Bring plenty of water and snacks. **0.5 - 1 gallon of water is required to bring with you on this journey! It will be hot! I will not let you make an 8-mile trek without enough water!** 🥾 Sturdy hiking shoes are required On these longer hikes, I like to take the opportunity to reflect in nature and think through some of my personal development goals. If the group is open to it, I’ll offer a few optional nature-based reflection exercises to help you slow down, reset, and connect more intentionally with yourself and your surroundings. If you’re looking for a challenge, deeper nature, and a really rewarding Saturday morning, this is your hike. CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be another good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
