Intégrée au domaine royal en 1314, cette forêt giboyeuse fut aménagée pour la chasse au cerf et au loup à partir du XVIe siècle. A la Révolution, elle devient propriété de l'Etat (domaniale). Ses grandes allées forestières, dessinées pour les chasses royales, traversent de vieilles futaies de chênes auxquels se mêlent châtaigniers, pins sylvestre ou laricio. Avec ses 3 000 hectares de verdures et ses 145 km de routes, elle offre un accès privilégié à la nature à une population urbaine avide de loisirs et détente. Ce qui en fait le « monument » le plus visité de l’Essonne. Entourée par les villes, Sénart bénéficie depuis 1995 du statut de « Forêt de protection » ce qui la met à l’abri de toutes velléités foncières. Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in! We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind. If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward.

This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about.
