Please come and share your experience, this is a supportive place to vent and talk. **THIS EVENT IS FOR ESTABLISHED MEMBERS ONLY. YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED A FIRST-TIMERS MEETING PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR THIS GROUP.** Zoom links will be sent out to those who RSVP by the afternoon of the event and have attended our first-timers meeting. Maximum attendance of 20 people so everyone has a chance to share. Video MUST be on so everyone can feel comfortable. People find their way into Self-Help programs because they have not been able to attain a level of peace and wellness in their lives that permits them to live with the sense of ease and freedom they believe might be attainable. Some go to therapy, 12-Step, Yoga, or meditation. Others go to Spiritual Practice, doctors the gym and more. As the saying goes: “It’s All Good” but quite often there is still something missing and it’s hard to quantify it. Something is needed to knit the fabric together. We, who are Practitioners of Recovering The Way Qigong, have found a way out of our common distress by practicing a program of Integration. Through Guided Meditative Movement, Breath Work, Self- Observation, Journaling and Sharing, RTW brings us back to a time before Medicine, Ethics, Philosophy, and Spirituality were ever separated. It then brings us forward into a 21st century adaptation of the ancient arts, pulling from modern Allopathic and Oriental Medicines, Quantum Theory, fundamental principles from the Recovery Movement and several other healing paradigms, psychologies and comparative spiritualties. We are all experiencing a menagerie of emotions these days, and not just a lot of them, but intense ones. When we experience emotions to the degree and strength that we are right now, it is important to harness that emotional energy in productive ways or allow them to release in nondestructive and nontoxic ways. Emotions that turn toxic in us only harm ourselves, which can produce physical ailments as well as further cause us mental and emotional turmoil, none of which is healthy. If you are looking for assistance in processing emotions that may be a little heavy for you right now and help to either use their energy for productive outlets or to release them in healthy ways, please join us in weekly Toxic Thought & Emotion Processing sessions each Sunday at 3:30 ET. We will deal with 1 emotion each week for 4 weeks until further notice: anger, fear, shame (& its cousin guilt) and sadness. Depression is one of the most common illnesses in these urban times where stress has become our constant companion. We have so many pressures upon us making us sink into depression. But then sometimes even the people who are suffering from depression do not know that they are suffering from depression, they will just fake a smile and stick it on their faces forever. But depression is not something that would leave you alone on its own. Maybe for someone, it might go away on its own however it is not guaranteed that it would go away on its own for everyone. What it is A weekly 1 hour connection and empathy space currently hosted by people who have experience in NVC, for anyone interested in NVC. This is not a workshop but a peer listening space to encourage listening. Who it’s for Everyone who is interested in NVC is welcome. No need for formal training but it’s great if you have been to some trainings. Come if you want to practice listening. Come if you’d enjoy a listening ear. What happens We offer a structure which offers clear guidance to everyone about what to do. Format (Each host will hold the space in a slightly different way but the overall structure will be the same) • Check-in • breakout into 3s for empathy and listening. (Empathy guidelines will be given and you can respond to the generative question ‘What do you want empathy for or to talk through?’) • Closing Self responsibility This is a reminder that everyone is responsible for themselves and we encourage you to take care of your own emotional safety. Recovering The Way: A fusion of Qigong, Western Medicinal Theory and 12-Step
I'm Dan Weicher, developer of Recovering the Way, which is a fusion of qigong, the Scientific Method and 12-step. Some time after coming into a 12 step program I met with Dr. Roger Jahnke OMD of The Institute Of Integral Qigong, It started a long and deep learning experience of integrating the principles of Internal Alchemy into my life. I realized pretty soon that the 12-step paradigm was also one of Alchemy, and the two of them worked well together. You might be saying, “That’s really nice for you, Dan, but I'm not interested in meditation", or "That’s really nice for you, Dan, I don't need a program for addiction" Bu there's a new pathology in the world now now that tis coming directly at us. And I don’t just mean the pandemic of the COVID virus. I'm talking about, if you a virus of freneticism that has overtaken us like a tsunami. We all have addictive tendencies, and just like gene expression, certain environmental phenomena can bring to surface the dis-ease. And it’s nearly impossible for us to avoid the effects of the new world of electronic phenomena and it is laying bare the compulsive, addictive parts of our personalities. Where people may not have considered themselves dependent, it’s being laid bare now for us. So, why this fusion? Just as Chinese medicine is a paradigm for healing and Western medicine is a paradigm for healing, the 12-Step process is a paradigm for healing. The fusion of the paradigms is how I healed and it can work for you too. I've seen in recovery circles that there are many people who have come to grips with a lot of their pressing issues but they're still very rife and tense, as if the body won't stop being in a state of excitation. I've also seen many people come into yoga or meditation class expecting for the addictive or compulsive part of their personality to abate and subside. It doesn’t necessarily always work. Recovering The Way is advantageous for those people who might be looking to see how they can integrate themselves better into today’s life. The practice is in the format of a Qigong Class, incorporating parts of the Tai Chi Easy program and Integral Qigong. No experience is necessary, it is pleasing, almost effortless and can be done seated, standing or just listening. Seasoned practitioners and novices each find it beneficial. We have amongst us Physicians, Scientists, Doctors of Oriental Medicine, Teachers and people from all walks of life and all ages. It is easy seamless and graspable to just about anybody. We bring into the body aspects of mind that allude us and visa versa. By integrating simplified Qigong (gentle movement, breath regulation, meditation and self massage), with simplified Recovery principles (self awareness of conduct and thought) we attain a level of internal harmony that may surprise us. This is all done under the backdrop a simple understanding of the most modern aspects of human physiology. Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind.
