All Out of Bubblegum Film Club 136 / Perfect Blue
All Out of Bubblegum Film Club 136 / Perfect Blue
Perfect Blue (Japanese: パーフェクトブルー, Hepburn: Pāfekuto Burū) is a 1997 Japanese animated psychological thriller film directed by Satoshi Kon. It is loosely based on the novel Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis (パーフェクトブルー:完全変態, Pāfekuto Burū: Kanzen Hentai) by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, with a screenplay by Sadayuki Murai. Featuring the voices of Junko Iwao, Rica Matsumoto, Shiho Niiyama, Masaaki Okura, Shinpachi Tsuji and Emiko Furukawa, the plot follows a member of a Japanese idol group who retires from music to pursue an acting career. As she becomes a victim of stalking by her obsessive fan, gruesome murders take place, and she begins losing her grip on reality. The film deals with the blurring of the line between fantasy and reality, a commonly found theme in Kon's other works, such as Millennium Actress (2001), Paranoia Agent (2004), and Paprika (2006). The film garnered critical acclaim and is now regarded as a masterpiece of animation and one of the best anime films of all time. Please note we will not be showing the film at the meeting. Make sure you watch the film before you attend and then come and join in with the conversation. It’s just a discussion. It’s not a screening. We will be meeting in The Ludski Bar in the Rio Cinema. What Does Happiness Really Mean? — A Curated Dinner Conversation (50% off food)
What Does Happiness Really Mean? — A Curated Dinner Conversation (50% off food)
**Meet2Click Curated Conversations** Each Meet2Click Curated Conversation dinner centres around a carefully chosen topic or shared interest, designed to spark thoughtful conversation and meaningful connection. Modern life is often driven by success, productivity, and constant achievement — yet we rarely pause to ask a deeper question: **What does happiness really mean?** Many of us equate happiness with achievement, status, or temporary pleasure. But research suggests happiness is something more intentional — built through meaning, satisfaction, and connection. If we don’t define it consciously, we risk chasing the wrong version of it. At this small-group dinner experience, we will explore: • Can happiness be built? • Does success actually make us happy? • Is happiness more about meaning or enjoyment? Inspired by the happiness framework developed by Harvard professor and bestselling author Arthur Brooks, guests will receive a short overview of his key ideas two days before the event to reflect on ahead of our discussion. This is not a debate. It is not a lecture. It’s a relaxed, friendly conversation around the table with curious, open-minded people. If you value thoughtful conversation and meaningful connection, join us for an evening dedicated to exploring what happiness truly means — and whether we are living in alignment with it. **Launch Season Benefit** During our initial Meet2Click dinners, guests will enjoy **up to 50% off food** at the restaurant. This introductory benefit is available for a limited launch period. Food and drinks are paid individually, directly with the restaurant. ⸻ Details Location: Kendal Street Kitchen, London Date: 21 April **Ticket price:** £15 per person *(includes your seat and contribution to the evening — food and drinks ordered and paid individually at the restaurant)* Seats are intentionally limited to encourage meaningful conversation and genuine connection. Additional Information: Photos or videos may be taken during the event for promotional purposes. Should you wish to opt out, please notify the host upon arrival, and your preferences will be respected.
Let’s Play Boarding Actions!
Let’s Play Boarding Actions!
**Join us for our monthly Boarding Actions (BACts) Club Night!** Whether you are a new BACts player, or an experienced member of the group, this is the night for you. BACts Club Nights will provide a venue for introductory games against experienced players, for Roulette Games, for pick-up games, and for us all to try new rules. This club night will provide an opportunity to playtest your Boarding Patrol and/or Crucible Character for the 1-day event on the 25th of April! This version of 40k is heavily dependent on terrain, and only one set is available at the venue. Hence, the success of club nights will depend on BACts players bringing their terrain. If you do not have terrain, we will try and match you with players that do. **Cancellations** If you can't make it, please contact your event host asap. There will be no cash refunds issued if you cancel within 24 hours of the event starting, but we can defer your game to another date. **About Us** The LWG have over 2,000 active members looking for games and generally discussing the hobby in the widest sense. If you'd like to part of this thriving community reach out to the event organiser who will add you to the appropriate chat group. **The Location** The event is held at the 7 Dials Club. This is half way down Earlham Street opposite one of the two entrances to the 7 Dials food market. Come up the stairs and find us on the first floor. She is the creator and manager of Moving Connections Camp in June and [Rumble](http://www.rumblefestival.co.uk/) festival, a conscious dance event that combines many different forms of movement and therapeutic practices that enable us to explore our inner and outer worlds in a safe and supportive environment. Julia's work is inspired by various movement systems such as 5 Rhythms, Contact Improvisation and Ecstatic Dance through which she has been developing her own experience and understanding of dance, connection and the power of movement to bring us into the present moment and explore our relationship to ourselves and our world. Julia is passionate about creating community in the simplest and most accessible way, welcoming all that we bring and encouraging authentic and open relating in all its forms. **Please note:** Please arrive before 7pm as it's important we are all present for the complete session. We appreciate a "no" as a gift of honesty and self-care. Thank-you for being you and for being brave and showing up! **Lower priced tickets** We can offer a few lower-priced tickets for those who are not in a position to afford the Standard price.
