What you learn at Toastmasters translates into real-life skills that you can use at work, school, and social gatherings. Our members deliver online presentations, moderate Zoom meetings, conduct mock job interviews, write compelling speeches, organize events, and learn how to make coherent short speeches with zero preparation. Following a structured curriculum, people can learn and build on basic speaking and leadership skills. They also use the meeting time to practice presentations and speeches they're giving at work and to test-drive classes or keynotes they're developing. All of this happens in a supportive environment that welcomes people of all experience and ability. The Early Risers Toastmasters Club meets online every Thursday morning from 7:45–9:00 am ET. The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
