Part one journeys along the riverside taking in the new American Embassy and other interesting sites and arrives at the regenerated Battersea power station where Barrie will tell you all about its history and the massive new development. Part two allows the group to wander, maybe have a snack or a coffee and take in the new Power station complex and immerse oneself in the brilliance of what has been accomplished in the amazing redevelopment of the area.....30 mins allowed.....maybe not enough !! We will meet opposite Hampstead tube station, by the Clock Tower (pictured below). * We will then make our way via Heath Street to see the Jack Straw's Castle. Not that Jack Straw -:), this site is named after the rebel leader Jack Straw, who led the Peasants' Revolt in 1381 and who is said to have taken refuge on the site until he was caught and executed. It is mentioned in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, where Professor Van Helsing and Doctor Jack Seward stop to dine, and also in Harold Pinter's play No Man's Land. * We will then make our way to see the Golders Hill Park. It adjoins the West Heath part of Hampstead Heath. It is chiefly grassy parkland, but it also has a formal, beautifully tended, flower garden next to a duck pond with a small humpback bridge, a separate water garden, which leads onto a larger pond, and a small free zoo, recently renovated. * We will then make our way to see the Pergola (pictured above). The Pergola is one of the hidden delights of Hampstead Heath, and is very popular for wedding pictures, as well as with film and photography students. The Hill Garden is a beautiful, landscaped garden which was the private garden of a now demolished manor house. * We will carry on to see the Burgh House, which is run by a charitable trust formed by local residents. Burgh House is free to visit and art lovers can always come back to see the world's largest archive and collection of Helen Allingham's work. This is where the walk ends. Optional drinks at the local pub after the walk. Hampstead station is 5mins away. For members who prefer the Overground – Hampstead Heath is 10 mins away. What to bring: Comfortable footwear Water Photo-taking gadgets and chargers An umbrella just in case (it's London after all) The walk is free for members who have subscribed for an annual membership. For other members the fee is £5 cash/card on arrival to contribute towards the organiser's Meetup fees and costs. The annual pass option is £15 payable by cash/card on the day. This will provide access to at least 40 walks per year (members are welcome to bring a guest to each event). Unless otherwise announced this is an in-person social gathering for Smalltalkers to get together and talk about Smalltalk (the Programming Language!). Everyone is welcome from the grizzled and experienced to the merely curious.

We will meet at Thamara Cafe which is outside Benfleet Station at 10.45 am, for a hot drink, {to get to the cafe when you get off the train go down the steps, go through the ticket barrier on the left, as you come out of the station, the cafe is on your left}. (if you need the toilet, the mens' is as you get off the train, the ladies is on the opposite platform}. After our hot drink at 11.30 am, we will follow the coastal path which runs along the Thames estuary to Leigh on Sea, passing the ruins of Hadleigh Castle on the way. Benfleet to Leigh on Sea {as image above} is about 2 hours walk, with no toilets en route. We will arrive at the picturesque seaside town of Leigh on Sea, where we will stop for lunch. There is an excellent fish and chip shop here and also pubs with a range of food. The Peterboat Inn is highly recommended and has indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the waterfront, After our lunch stop, we will continue along the coastal path which runs along the seafront from Leigh on Sea to Southend pier, where the walk ends Total walking distance around 8 miles. Lots to see in Southend itself, including the famous pier - the longest in the world at 1.5 miles. Anybody wishing to extend the walk can There is a Wetherspoons (The Last Post) a couple of hundred yards along Southend High Street opposite Southend Central station, from where we get the train back to London. Anybody wishing to leave the walk early can catch trains back to London from Leigh on Sea. It is recommended You get the 9.50am c2c train from Fenchurch Street which arrives at Benfleet at approx 10.34, calling at Limehouse, West Ham, ( 9.59 am} Barking (10.05 am} and Upminster {10.13 am} for connections with the DLR and tube. Purchase return ticket to Southend Central. For those with the London over 60 oyster card , you need only book a return from Upminster. If you are 65 and over you can purchase for £7 a C2C day rover and you can get this ticket at any C2C railway station. Come with me on a enjoyable walk along The River Thames, along the Thames Path walking the Greenwich Circular distance 8 miles approx. We will meet in the Gate clock {Wetherspoons this is next to the Cutty Sark DLR Station} at 10.45 am for a hot drink, leaving at 11. 15 am to start our walk.. We will follow the Thames Path to North Greenwich, and get the cable car {as above} to take us over to Victoria Dock. Lunch will be at Trinity Buoy Wharf {or you can bring your own}. After lunch we will walk along the Thames Path to Island Gardens and walk through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, and then back to the Gateclock Pub for a drink. It’s a fun and easy way to start conversations with people in the room. **08:15 PM – Team Challenges Begin** Once teams are formed, the challenges start. The first 3 teams to complete all three challenges win free shots🍹 No skills needed. Just jump in, have a laugh and work together. **09:00 PM – Open Social & Mingling** Once the challenges wrap up, the room opens up. This is the moment to mix, chat and get to know new people. **10:00 PM – Music** The DJ takes over and the night shifts into a more relaxed social vibe. This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise. We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration. Target audience for this group is persons who are visually impaired, especially those who have experienced recent loss, however, all are welcome, including family members and supports. Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area.
