Bicycle Ride: Museums and Monuments of our Nation's Capital
**25 miles. For advanced beginners and above.** **The route is flat except for a long, easy climb back to the start.**
Free for members/$15.00 non-members
This is our favorite winter ride! Beginning in Bethesda, we’ll ride down the Capitol Crescent Trail (CCT) into the city, stopping at the Lincoln, Jefferson, FDR and MLK Memorials for photo ops and a little history. Our ride will also take us down the National Mall, past the WWII Memorial, and the Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian Museums as we enjoy the beauty of the city. We’ll have a rest stop about mid-way at the U.S. Botanic Gardens.

Circlesinging Together ** Elwood Smith Community Center, Rockville **
\*\*\*SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT\*\*\*
Lights! Camera! Action! The grant funding we've received from the Maryland State Arts Council is going toward the production of a "what is circlesinging?" video. This Sunday (January 11th) ONLY, a professional videographer will be capturing sound and video from our event to feature in the video we produce. As always, you'll be safe to stay out of the limelight if you should choose, or feel free to accept the invitation to give a testimonial about your experience with circlesinging. FOUR of our regular hosts will be here this weekend: Beth, Paris, Dina, and Amado. The energy promises to be special. We hope to see you here!
\*\*\*
We are meeting in person at Elwood Smith Community Center, Rockville!
\*\*\*
The community-singing event where where everything's made up and the point — to sing for our lives — matters.
Our leaders will teach you parts to sing for spontaneously-composed choral pieces. We play a variety of listening/music/singing games, and create safe opportunities for participants to improvise as little or as much as they might like.
Good for all skill levels, shower-singers to seasoned pros, no sheet-music-reading required.
\*\*\*
We usually meet on the second Sunday of the month, and will continue to meet in-person as long as it makes sense. We encourage and provide masks.
We will also plan on continuing our Zoom circles from time to time. So please check the day before/day of the meetup each month to confirm date & details.
This world needs more song; join in the fun, and be the music you want to hear in the world.
Hope to see you there!

Let's Have Lunch Again at Circa in Foggy Bottom!
We had a wonderful time together in November and December at this restaurant, so let's do it again!
We already have 9 women signed up with FFF>50 on the Mighty Networks platform, but I'm putting it out here too, hope you can join us (we'll create two or more tables if necessary!).
Join us at the highly rated CIRCA restaurant just steps from the Foggy Bottom metro station. We'll sit on the covered patio, which has overhead heaters and plastic window covers so it should be comfortable, and it's quieter for conversation than the indoor space.
Enjoy small plates, a full meal, salads, cocktails, beer on tap or whatever you'd like best on a Sunday afternoon.
Of course, great conversation, laughs and in-person social time with great FFF>50 friends is the best part! Hope you can join!
Note: This and other FFF>50 events will be permanently shifting to our walled-garden playground on the Mighty Networks platform, please sign up [here!](https://community.fff50.org/share/dbWb9iJu5XwSN2TR?utm_source=manual) If it's full with a waitlist here you can get a spot on Mighty!

The Matzah Ball by Jean Meltzer
I don't usually pick romance but I really wanted to do a Hanukkah book. It's a bit on the longer side but hopefully a quick read. The library only has 5 audiobooks so please try to remember to "release it" when you're done.

Book summary:
Rachel Rubenstein-Goldblatt is a nice Jewish girl with a shameful secret: she loves Christmas. For a decade she’s hidden her career as a Christmas romance novelist from her family. Her talent has made her a bestseller even as her chronic illness has always kept the kind of love she writes about out of reach.
But when her diversity-conscious publisher insists she write a Hanukkah romance, her well of inspiration suddenly runs dry. Hanukkah’s not magical. It’s not merry. It’s not *Christmas*. Desperate not to lose her contract, Rachel’s determined to find her muse at the Matzah Ball, a Jewish music celebration on the last night of Hanukkah, even if it means working with her summer camp archenemy—Jacob Greenberg.
Though Rachel and Jacob haven’t seen each other since they were kids, their grudge still glows brighter than a menorah. But as they spend more time together, Rachel finds herself drawn to Hanukkah—and Jacob—in a way she never expected. Maybe this holiday of lights will be the spark she needed to set her heart ablaze.
