What we’re about
Jersey Harmony Chorus is now taking auditions! JHC is the Princeton, NJ chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and teaching four-part barbershop harmony, an American folk art for voices in the soprano/alto (treble clef) voice range. The chorus also sings all kinds of other four-part, a cappella music as well.
Under the direction of Kat Britt, our chorus boasts members from Mercer, Somerset, Middlesex, Ocean, and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey. Some of our members have participated in Sweet Adelines for over 30 years. Others are novices.
Our membership consists of treble clef singers who come from a wide range of occupations and backgrounds. Our common bond is a love of singing and performing. Our repertoire includes popular ballads, lively uptunes, jazz, patriotic, and holiday music. We enjoy singing a wide variety of music that's fun to sing and listen to. We also have fun competing at our annual regional competition in Albany, NY.
We meet weekly for rehearsal on Monday evenings at the Recreation Hall of Griggstown Reformed Church, 1065 Canal Road, Princeton, at 7:30 p.m. We have several coaching sessions throughout the year and optional workshops. The essential requirements for membership are the ability to carry a tune and the time to attend weekly rehearsals. All people who sing within the soprano/alto voice range are eligible to audition for membership.
