Interview Series: The Inner Journeys - Refat

Introducing Interview Series: The Inner Journeys — a recurring space that unfolds over time, shaped by personal growth, curiosity, and reflection. Each conversation is scheduled intentionally, when depth and presence are possible. Over the years through hundreds of conversations, I’ve learned that every life, regardless of its external accomplishments, carries an inner story that can quietly shift the way we see ourselves. These talks bring those stories to light — not to showcase expertise or achievement, but to explore the inner landscapes behind them.

This Month’s Guest — Refat: On Competence, Ease, and What Isn’t Made Visible

Refat is an entrepreneur based in Munich who has walked the tension between high performance and inner unease. He lives with ADHD and identifies on the autism spectrum — and his professional story is one of competence, confidence, and real success in a demanding field. But what lies beneath the success are the quieter, less told experiences of social discomfort, loneliness, relational misattunement, and the cost of carrying intense responsibility both personally and professionally.

This conversation will gently uncover the places where:

  • capability outpaces ease,
  • success hides what remains unfinished,
  • doing — and being with doing — does not necessarily settle the inner self.

This will not be a talk about what it takes to succeed in business, or a lesson on productivity and strategy. Instead, it’s a conversation that leans into the invisible, the unfinished, and the parts of ourselves that don’t fit neat narratives — the parts that shape how we really live and relate.

Some of the questions we’ll explore include:

  • What happens inside when performance is normal, and rest feels foreign?
  • Which internal experiences have shaped him as much as his achievements?
  • Where do competence and discomfort meet — and what does that reveal about identity and connection?

This event is for anyone drawn to deep conversations, personal reflection, and the human stories behind what we do — especially those moments that are quieter, unpolished, and unfinished.
