No Sidecars with Ambient Service Meshes & K8s @ Deutsche Bahn

Nach dem Sommerloch sind wir endlich wieder zurück und das gleich in doppelter Hinsicht: Zwei Speaker mit spannenden Talks und bei einem neuen Host: der Zollsoft in Jena! Manuel Zapf ist bereits ein bekannter Speaker und führt uns nun in die Welt des Ambient Mode ein. So können wir in Zukunft auf unser Sidecars verzichten. Im zweiten Talk erfahren wir von Henry Sachs, warum die Deutsche Bahn immer wieder ihre Produktion löscht. Wir freuen uns auf Euch!

Vortrag "Look Ma, no sidecars!":

The sidecar model of delivering service mesh to applications in a cluster has drawbacks that limited adoption at scale and performance; a new model introduced in the ambient mode of Istio aims at reducing complexity and overhead and delivering secure application networking at both L4 and L7 with zero changes needed at the pod level. We will deploy and demo Ambient Mesh and show (some) of its capabilities to illustrate the new model.
