We are a Wine and Dine Group! We share some good (sometimes Great!) bottles of wine over food and conversation.
A few times per month, we have small group dinners, either 6, 8 or 10 people at each event. The group organizers will host dinners on both weeknights and weekends. The organizer will supply 4 bottles of wine for 6 person dinners, 5 bottles of wine for 8 person dinners, and 6 bottles of wine for 10 person dinners. Most of the time, the wines will come from the event organizer's personal collection.
The cost of each event will be for an individual's share of the wine and in some cases the wine corkage charge of the restaurant. Dinner is not included and must be paid for at the event.
To attend an event, the wine payment must be made in advance, and reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Once you pay, refunds or credits are only available if you cancel AND your spot gets filled by someone else. All refunds are subject to a cancellation fee from $3 to $5, depending on the cost of the event. There is no refund or credit for no-shows.
No other outside wine will be permitted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the host, but attendees may order wine or spirits from the restaurant, at their own expense. Attendees are expected to order at least an entree and one other item from the menu, either an appetizer, a side dish or a dessert.
Along with the wine charge, everyone will be expected/required to pay for their own meal, along with a 33% charge for tax and tip.
We will be dining at restaurants that we have established relationships with, where we can bring our own wine for us to enjoy. Corkage varies from restaurant to restaurant, from Zero to $25 per bottle.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PROFILE PICTURE WHERE I CAN SEE YOUR FACE, YOU WILL BE REJECTED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THIS GROUP.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2023 Rivers-Marie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast ($50) - This is Rivers-Marie's entry level Chardonnay, and dollar for dollar, I think it is the best Chard in their portfolio. Wine Spectator 93 points, "Vibrant and intense, with terrific energy behind the candied lemon peel, kumquat and lemon tart flavors, plus touches of honeycomb and lemon balm. Hints of green tea, dried pineapple and crunchy sea salt linger on the finish"2020 Soos Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Champoux Vineyard Block 4 ($40) - I LOVE this vineyard and I think Soos Creek is one of those wineries that always punches above its weight class. Sean Sullivan of the Northwest Wine Report gave it 95 points, "Fruit for this wine comes from Washington’s premier Cabernet Sauvignon site. Blended with 15% Merlot and aged in half new French oak, aromas of black currant, green pepper, black cherry, plum, graphite, and barrel spice are followed by broad, layered, black cherry and blackberry flavors. There’s penetrating intensity as well as sneaky richness. Barrel accents are speckled throughout. As is the hallmark of this vineyard, the tannins are polished to a fine sheen. The fruit and barrel-filled finish hangs and hangs. It’s completely stunning, winning on its intensity and balance. Best from 2028 to 2038. 14.1% alcohol. Micro-agglomerated cork. 100 cases produced. Published December 18, 2023."
2019 Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Estate ($75) - WS 92, WA 93, JD 94+ points, "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes from the estate Monte Bello Vineyard on the eastern side of the Santa Cruz Mountains and is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. Hitting 13.8% alcohol, its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a brilliant perfume of blue fruits, scorched earth, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil. Beautifully balanced and medium to full-bodied, with building tannins, it's a seamless Cabernet Sauvignon that has some up-front appeal given its balance and elegance yet will benefit from 2-5 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have 20+ years of overall longevity.<!--more-->While many of these wines fall outside the “Central Coast,” I was able to taste a full lineup from Ridge and am happy to include these wines here. Going forward, the Sonoma releases will be covered by my colleague, Audrey Frick. (Drink between 2024-2047)"

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2018 Big Basin Vineyards Roussanne Homestead Block ($25) - From CA's Santa Cruz Mountains. Antonio Galloni (VM): “92 points; The 2018 Roussanne Homestead Block is a gorgeous white loaded with varietal character and plenty of nuance. Apricot, dried flowers, tangerine oil, chamomile and almonds fill out the layers as this oily, beautifully textured Roussanne opens in the glass. The 2018 offers a striking mix of the freshness of the year with the natural richness of Roussanne.
2015 Mas Martinet Priorat Clos Martinet ($59) - From Priorat, Spain, it is a Grenache based blend including, Garnacha, Syrah, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but I can't find the percentages- CT 92.6, WA 96 points, "I love the 2015 Clos Martinet, which I find complex and elegant while keeping the Priorat rustic character found in the best vintages, like 2000. It's balanced, and the palate feels ethereal for the concentration it has. The tannins are abundant but very fine-grained, and there is a sense of harmony that is captivating. A great Clos Martinet. I had the chance to drink the 2000 a few days before I tasted this, and it remains one of the best years they have produced. 2015 is also among the best years. 12,000 bottles were filled in April 2017. (drink 2018-2028)"
2020 Two Vintners Oliver Stonetree Vineyard ($33) - From WA State, Vinous Eric Guido, 92 points, "The 2020 Oliver opens with a bouquet that mixes both savory and sweet. Dusty violet and lavender tones give way to mint and spiced plum aromas. It’s luxuriously silky and elegant on the palate. Juicy acidity motivates the tart wild berry fruits as sour citrus adds contrast toward the close. It finishes spicy and with outstanding length, leaving subtly grippy tannins and clove to taper off slowly. The Oliver is 90% Grenache from the Weather Eye Vineyard, plus 5% Boushey Vineyard Syrah and 5% Olsen Vineyard Petite Sirah. Drink 2024-2029."
2021 The Walls Vineyards The Ramparts - ($50) - From WA state a blend of 59% Grenache, 24% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, 6% Counoise from the Red Heaven Vineyard - Red Mountain AVA. JD 92 points, "The Grenache-dominated 2021 The Ramparts offers lots of up-front red and black fruits as well as spicy, peppery, underbrush nuances, medium to full body, fine tannins, and a soft, pure, layered, already hard-to-resist style."
- Chardonnay Without Borders: Blind Tasting Across ContinentsNoreetuh, New York, NY56,00 USD
We're returning to one of my favorite spots—Noreetuh—for this tasting. Located at 128 First Avenue in the East Village, Noreetuh is a modern Hawaiian restaurant whose menu pairs beautifully with Chardonnays.
Noreetuh MenuAt this 6-person meetup, we’ll start with a Blanc de Blancs Champagne, then move into a blind tasting of three Chardonnays. Think you can spot the true Burgundy?

Food & Wine Agreement
Drink with grilled and sauce crustaceans, such as prawns or lobster, whose aromatic intensity and crisp texture play with its bright and supple balance.2021 Shunyi “Xiang Si” 相思 Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay, USA ($40) No Pro Reviews,
From the producer:
The harvest at McIntyre vineyard began on the same day in both years, the character of the fruit was quite different—the 2020 wines were concentrated, ripe, and plush, while the 2021 wines are brighter, a bit lower in alcohol, and more classically proportioned. 180 cases made.We named our Chardonnay “Xiang Si” 相思, which means to think about the ones you care for and love. We wanted to dedicate this wine to our families and friends who have been guiding and supporting us along this challenging yet exciting journey
2021 Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard 'White Stones' Chardonnay, Argentian ($99), WA 98 - A very mineral, flinty chardonnay full of wet stones, lime and some green fruit. Austere and chalky on the medium-bodied palate, really transparent and elegant with super bright and beautifully integrated acidity. Pure, linear and long. Drink or hold.
- Memorial Day Burgundy!Nice Matin, New York, NY48,00 USD
I've been accumulating off the beaten track Burgundies from an importer in Delaware and it's time to drink some of them. So for this dinner, I'll put together a selection of these wines.
We will be dining at Nice Matin, a place we have been to often and always enjoyed. For this 8 person dinner there will be 1 white wine and 4 red wines, all from Burgundy. Here is a link to their menu:

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2022 Thierry Violot-Guillemard Pinot Beurot Bourgogne Blanc ($33) - Instead of a Chardonnay or even an Aligote, let's go with Pinot Beurot, From the importer, "This is a great little wine that I have pushed hard to get every year, but have only been able to include a few times. The generosity of 2022 has afforded us the chance to get some of this everyday house wine dream, the 100% Pinot blanc aka Pinot Beurrot. In textural appeal and generosity, finishing dry, vertical, and perfumey, this is delightful."One plot dates from 1982, supplemented by some from 2017. Very floral and not too ripe, the first picked so it still has an excellent zesty quality. I like this balance and it has excellent energy behind. A good way to make it. Drink from 2024-2026. Tasted: October 2023." 88 Jasper Morris "Four Star" wine
2022 Joannès Violot-Guillemard Bourgogne Côte d'Or Les Maison Dieu ($43) - CT 92.3, Jasper Morris 88 points, "Mid crimson, darker than the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. There is much more weight to this in the mouth, thanks to older vines, giving darker raspberry fruit. Vinified with about half whole bunch, this has energy as well as the natural weight of the Maison Dieu site. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted: October 2023." From the importer, "This is the house best Bourgogne level wine, and a calling card of the estate, of sorts. This is a very unique and special parcel, once featured on the Santiago de Compostela hermitage route, and once classified as a villages level parcel. This has all of the essential Pommard fruit groups well represented: moderately dark red fruits, medium plus concentration, light but buried tannic grip under a wealth of delicous raspberry fruit, with an exceptional level of dry extract/mineral mass for a Bourgogne level wine. As it always does, this punches well above its price point, and is an archetypal example of a Bourgogne that delivers quintessential single village/single parcel character at a pittance of a price."
2017 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes ($124) -CT 91.7 -From vines averaging between 60 and 70 years of age located in Les Champs Perriers, En Derée, Sylvie, Les Jeunes Rois, La Justice, La Burie and La Platière). Matured in around 50% new oak, the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has (another) gorgeous and pure bouquet with small dark cherries, raspberry preserve and subtle violet notes. The new oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red and black fruit, lightly spiced with a slightly confit-like finish. Divine." 90-92 Neil Martin
2021 Domaine François Buffet Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes ($85) - More deeply pitched and restrained aromas include those of plum, violet, clove and anise. The more robust, muscular and denser medium-bodied flavors deliver excellent persistence on the more structured and powerful finish. As is virtually always the case with Clos des Chênes, this is going to need at least a few years of patience and should be capable of rewarding a decade plus. (91-93)/2031+" Allen Meadows
"Made from 50 and 80 year old vines. Mid crimson, with not so much showing on the nose at first. The class shows more on the palate, raspberry leading the cherry notes, a little firmer at the finish, slightly darker fruit, with good persistence. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: October 2022" 90-93 Jasper Morris
2022 Bruno Lorenzon Mercurey Les Vignes d'Orge ($58) - From Mercurey and the village dates from pre-historic times and is the most widely recognized and important wine village of the Côte Chalonnaise, producing more wines than all other village appellations combined. From the importer, "Now that I have tasted it, I can attest to the fact that the 2022 is a knockout, as Bruno told me in no uncertain terms that it is all that he would hope the wine could be. He is not a braggart nor glib with superlatives....I trusted him wholeheartedly, and now see what he means...
"Delicious fruit flavours. Plenty of ripe cherry. Flesh overlaying a mineral base. 50% whole bunch and just 15% new oak." Jeremy Holmes
