Controlling Hardware with Python
Details
This talk will give you a quick introduction to the GPIO subsystem on the Raspberry Pi and how to control it from Python. Then we'll talk about how to speak to hardware from software, and how to control a character LCD display with Python.
The topics that this talk will cover:
• The Raspberry Pi hardware
• Controlling hardware from software
• Electronics crashcourse
• Writing to an LCD display with the RPLCD library
• If we have enough time: How RPLCD is implemented
Due to time and space restrictions this won't be a hands-on session, but you'll have enough resources available to get started yourself, if you wish to do so. Even if not, you'll hopefully learn something new about controlling hardware.
The meetup will take place in the "Konferenzraum Mühle Tiefenbrunnen". Here's the exact location of the entrance: http://osm.org/go/0C0TaIJfg?m=
