Hello dear friends!
I truly believe art has a beautiful way of helping us feel, reflect, and even uncover thoughts and emotions we didn’t realize were there.
Let’s get together—potluck style, as usual! Please bring your favorite dish, your drink of choice, and of course, your smoke. We’ll do what we always do best… laugh, connect, eat, and enjoy each other’s company.
After we're done I’d love for us to sit down together and try something a little different. I have a book of Power Mandalas, and each of you will get to choose one that speaks to you. I will read the instructions. We’ll take a few quiet moments to observe it, and then begin coloring in whatever way feels right to you. I'll provide the colored pencils and markers.
Once we get started, we’ll ease back into conversation and laughter—I don’t want it to feel too serious. Just an opportunity to slow down a bit and maybe experience something a little deeper, if it comes naturally.
No pressure to finish your Mandala that night—this is just the beginning. You’re welcome to take it home and continue it whenever you feel inspired.
I warmly invite both familiar faces and new ones. This will be held in my home, and I welcome you with an open heart. I truly hope to see many of you for what I know will be a fun, meaningful, and memorable evening.
From the book, Power MandalaS:
Q: Mandalas – can you eat them?
Not really… Unless you like the taste of paper. But there is a lot you can do with our Mandala's. Besides eating them is not recommended.
First, you can just simply look at them. This alone is a true visual delight. In order to do this, we advise you to retreat to a somewhat quieter corner and to bring along some time. Then have your eyes follow the lines from the outside to the inside if you want to concentrate and from the inside to the outside, if you want to open yourself up to something perhaps then you will understand what a mandala does to us. It's centers us; this means that it can lead us to our center, and thus to a kind of meditation.
And now, when you have really looked inside yourself, then we recommend reaching out. For colors, of course. Whether you use watercolors, colored pencils, felted, pens, or whatever you feel like have fun with color. Follow your colorful desires and have a ball.
By the way, it is not important to paint perfectly or just stick exactly to the model paint as you please. Again, it is most effective to proceed from the outside to the inside or the other way around.
Now we are back at our theme: the goal of the whole enterprise is first of all your own pleasure. Because you will have so much fun painting, you won't observe that something else is happening. You will relax, gradually you will become calm you'll playfully circle around your center and will approach the essential– yourself in the great scheme of the whole.
Mandala for coloring are a very pleasurable form of meditation, which will relax you and afterwards you will even be able to hang them on your wall. Have a lot of fun.
