What we're about

This is a group for young people who are up for a bit of hiking and beer(s) afterwards. You don't have to be super fit or have all of the shiny gear. You just need a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors. Hikes will vary from short beginner hikes to overnight hikes for the more experienced. Ideal for those who have recently moved to Perth or looking forward to meeting people with similar interests.

We're also on Facebook, where we have a page for discussion and if you're looking for people to join you on the trails outside of the "official" hike you can try your luck there - https://www.facebook.com/groups/youngperthhikers/

King Jarrah Trail - Dwellingup - Labour Day Hike

Blue Wren Cafe

What: A 18km walk along the King Jarrah Trail in Lane Poole Reserve just outside of Dwellingup. This is quite a long walk so come prepared (and have the fitness) to spend 5-6 hours out on the track. If the day is too hot we will do a shorter walk. Given a large amount of driving, I strongly recommend arranging to carpool which can be arranged by commenting on the event page (hike leaders are not here to arrange your transport). Distance: 18kms Difficulty Rating: 3B (http://www.meetup.com/Young-Perth-Hikers/pages/Hiking_Difficulty/) Meeting Point: Blue Wren Cafe, 53 McLarty St, Dwellingup WA 6213 Times: 7.00am Depart Perth. 8.30am Meet at the Blue Wren Cafe in Dwellingup for a pre-hike coffee 9am Depart Dwellingup for Lane Poole Reserve and the start of the walk (at Nanga Mill Campground). 9:30am Start walking 2:30pm Finish the hike 3pm Arrive back at Dwellingup for a cool drink (at the pub) before driving back to Perth 5:30pm Arrive back at Perth Bring: At least 2 litres of water (more if it is a warm day), hiking snacks & lunch, waterproof jacket and sensible shoes (hiking boots or trail running shoes recommended). Weather: Willyweather - Local (https://www.willyweather.com.au/wa/peel/dwellingup.html) Donation: $5.00 towards the Meetup website fees will be very much appreciated. (It is not a membership fee, nor does it cover insurance or any other liability. Walkers attend at their own risk.) Boring but important: Please only RSVP if you are "for reals". If your plans change, please change your RSVP as soon as possible. Our hikes ALWAYS have a wait list so we don't want anyone to miss out unnecessarily. Contact: Stephen[masked] - only use this on the day, all questions prior to the day should be asked in the comments. Additional Information: You can find more information at the TrailsWA website https://trailswa.com.au/trails/king-jarrah-track Do you see yourself as a hike leader? Speak with the leaders after the hike. Did you know we're also on Facebook? ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/youngperthhikers/ )
