- Queer Social Club
We're feeling the cozy vibes again so we're running another silent bookclub this month! 📖
This month we're inviting everyone to bring along a book to read. Any book will do!
The afternoon will begin with about 30 minutes of ice breaker discussions and introducing the books we're all reading starting at 2pm.
Then we'll spend around 60 minutes reading with further discussion about our books following this.
We'll have some lofi music going in the background too!
As usual there will be snacks and tea and coffee available for everyone.
We hope to see you there this month 💜🌈
====About Us====
Introducing Activate Mental Health's new monthly event, "Queer Social Club".
If you represent the LGBTQIA+ community, feel free to come and meet like-minded individuals. Allies are welcome too.
Join us in a safe space with some fun people, including our hosts Kayla (she/her) and Charlotte (they/them & she/her), who are both in the community themselves.
Our goal in running this event is to create a safe space for people to be authentically themselves with like minded individuals. We wanted to create a social club for those who are apart of the LGBTQIA+ community looking to make connections within the community.
We noticed that a lot of existing groups were focused around a particular activity. So with the monthly meetings we aim to run a whole bunch of activities!
==== Why should you come to this event? ====
Did you know that the feeling of loneliness is the equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes per day? https://bit.ly/2DMqoXU. We fully understand the challenge that loneliness has on wellbeing. Our goal is to connect like minded people with fun and engaging activities so that you create friendships with others to reduce that feeling of isolation. We want you to feel part of our welcoming community and have an avenue where you can improve your mental health and wellbeing in a safe and fun setting. If that’s not enough, hear from our members about what the group has meant to them:

- Silent Book Club - Vic Park Community Space
Have you been looking for a book club that doesn't require you to read a specific book or participate in a formal discussion?
Look no further than The Silent Book Club, a global movement that has taken root in our community. Join us for an afternoon of quiet reading in the company of friends and peers. Here's what to expect:
On the last Sunday of every month, we'll gather at the Vic Park Community Hub. Please note that the facility has a capacity of 10 people, so be sure to RSVP to secure your spot.
At 2 pm, join us at the community space chat with other readers about what you're currently reading and books in general. If you arrive before 2pm, Modus cafe is still open for coffee, so please arrive early to order your caffeine fix before they close at 2pm.
From 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, we'll observe an hour of silence as we read our books together. To signal the end of the reading session, a 50-minute timer will be set.
At 3:30 pm, you're welcome to leave or stay and socialize with fellow book lovers.
This event is set to occur monthly, and we look forward to seeing you there!

- AMH (Online) Friendly Check-in & Goal setting
Hey all! How are you? Thank you for accepting me as an addition to the hosting team and your community! I thought to kick off with a weekly, friendly online Zoom 'check in' and goal setting run alternating Sunday (4:00PM) and Wednesday (6:00PM) evenings.
I will be running a regular, very casual guided session as a prompt to check in with yourself and your community, wherever and whoever you may be.
No expectation to have your camera or voice however you are encouraged to do so and participate as much as you feel comfortable to take full advantage of the experience. I will also encourage participation in the chats as well where possible. It will also not be recorded so please arrive on time to take full advantage of the experience (Zoom has a limit of 40 mins) and keep your RSVP updated :)
Please let me know if you have any issues connecting/joining and will do my best to help you out. A Zoom account is not required if you are strictly joining Zoom Meetings as a participant. If someone invites you to their meeting, you can join as a participant without creating an account.
I am passionate about facilitating environments where people feel safe to express themselves in whatever way is authentic, so unfiltered and unconventional conversations are encouraged! So please maintain an open minded approach to these to allow this level of authenticity to be appreciated and respected. Thank you!

We would recommend this to be filled out to let our hosts know what we do well and what we can do better.
You can also email us at [masked] with your feedback.

Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of....... Neither is talking about it.
Hi I'm Andy "Crocman", I have struggled myself with mental health and alcohol abuse issues.
I remember that when I was struggling, I did not know where to turn for support.
So with this in mind, I have set up The Wellness Wagon - a safe community space connecting men giving them chance to gather for a walk, coffee & chat about whatever is on their mind.
Providing encouragement, support & help with further information on other support services and groups.
Listen…. Talk… Assist. It’s that easy .
You invited to come and join me @ 8 am, grab a coffee at the Beachside Barrista (own expense), go for a walk along the coast path returning to mirror park around 9 am where we can chill and have a chat.
Look forward to catching up with you.
