What we’re about

Welcome to the Autistic Book Club, the place to talk about books & Autism!
It's always good to find like-minded people to spend time with, and this group is for the bookish Autists, the introverts, the quieter people and those who like to talk...

To reassure you; we do not use ice breakers, you don't have to speak (although we love to hear your thoughts!) and we talk about the book of the month, Autism and any other topics that may arise.

We understand that sometimes it's hard to break into a conversation, so when you want to speak, use the 'raise hand' reaction in Zoom. This puts you in a queue so you don't miss out.

How to attend a meeting: RSVP to the ‘event’ you want to attend, and please keep your RSVP current. If you can't attend the book club, please change your RSVP to reflect this.

Book Club meetings last for an hour, whilst in-person events last for approx. 2 hours.

We welcome women, non-binary, trans, intersex and gender non-conforming people who share or have shared lived experiences of women’s issues and are comfortable in a space that centres women.

If you have any other questions, DM me.

We hope to see you soon!

Please do not divulge the personal details of other members or what is talked about during the meetings. Please do not take screenshots of the Book Club Zoom call, or share members profile pics; respect Book Club members privacy.

Be respectful and sensitive to others - we are all at different stages in our experience of being Autistic; be kind.

If you can see us, we need to see you; we are a cameras on group, this is non-negotiable.

We do not allow advertising. Strictly NO marketing / promoting your group, business, product, mentoring, coaching, etc. Those who are found to be doing this will be removed from the group. If you are a leader / assistant / helper at another Autistic or Neurodivergent group you need to disclose this to the Admin before the group begins.

The Autistic Book Club is led by untrained volunteers, as is the nature of a free book club and does not provide support. Book Club meetings are not group therapy, and we are not a mental health support group; we do not provide professional counselling, therapy or support. Please contact your doctor if you need support. We cannot accommodate you if you have complex needs; we are untrained volunteers.

Dormant accounts will be removed from time to time, however, if your account is removed you are always welcome to re-join the Book Club.

DM's are open, no concern is too small, questions are welcome.

See you at Book Club!
