Hello Everyone...Come and visit this hidden gem close to Howick and Botany..This coastal urban walking trail takes you through a peaceful forest filled with native birds, and you can hear them singing as we move along the tracks which are like a gentle roller coaster..alongside the estuary that stretches from the inlet from Whitford out to Cockle Bay and Maraetai and Beachlands.
About 3 hours of leisurely walking, we stop lots to talk about the things we see along the way, we take pictures and chat with each other..A few small hills down and up in the afternoon for cardio and gentle exercises...not too difficult if you walk often .this is perfect for anyone new or other members keen on slowing down and looking around.
Almost entirely in the shade in the bush..we follow the coastal pathway, walk underneath an old historic bridge, and also learn something about the things we see along the way like trees and plants and birds and perhaps see some mushrooms.
This Easy Paced Walk is ideally suited for photographers and nature enthusiasts.
Fast paced people should choose something else.
With your Walking Host and Guide...Big Stephen, whose been bringing people together for outdoor adventures and shared hiking for many years, he founded Feet First Hiking And Urban Walking Meet Up Group in 2010, so he's got lots of knowledge about this area...he frequently visits here in East Auckland.
Bring along everything you need to keep yourself happy outdoors and warm and dry, carrying everything in a small backpack with your lunch and water and snacks...Wear a wool layer against your chest to keep yourself happy outdoors in the colder climate when we stop.
Always carry warmer clothes and wear strong walking shoes or boots.

Please arrive earlier to park your car... in the side streets off Sommerville Road.. Some bus transportation available..
Best to use Toilets elsewhere before you arrive.
