🚶♂️ Boxing Day Summer Walk – Lake Wainamu (Bethells / Te Henga)
This easy, social summer walk is around 6km return, mostly flat ground and sand, with no big hills — perfect for anyone who enjoys slower-paced walking, chatting, and soaking up summer vibes.
Have visiting friends or active kids in town? They’re welcome too (under your supervision).
🌊 Why Lake Wainamu?
Tucked just inland from Bethells Beach, this stunning freshwater lake is still a hidden gem for many Aucklanders.
Expect:
Gentle exercise at a relaxed pace
Time to swim, float, or simply chill by the lake
Optional jump off the short pier (ladder provided!)
Stop-offs to admire the huge sand dunes
Optional dune climb — and for the young at heart… rolling or sliding down 😄
Others can relax under the pine trees and enjoy the view
