Details about the talk
Have you ever wondered what connects people from different walks of life like single moms, slick politicians, or folks who sneak onto buses without paying? Each of these groups is often studied broadly, but we rarely delve into the specifics unfolding within them. We talk about corruption or fare-dodging as collective issues, and label people as "bad," but how can understanding their individual story lead to better, fairer societal systems? When we dig deeper than mere demographics we discover the complexities that drive our day-to-day decisions.
By the end of this talk, you'll see people and their actions in a new light. We’ll look at how personality, emotions, values and environmental factors influence how we interact with the world and people around us. You'll also see how unique circumstances can impact individuals differently, possibly leading them down paths we might label as 'bad'.
And lastly, we'll delve into how we can blend knowledge from various fields such as sensory science, neuroscience, psychology, and design to solve everyday problems. We're not just discussing theory - we're talking about understanding humanity better and making our shared world a better place.
