Belvoir Forest Park

Details
Grade: Easy with some steep parts
Ken and Arantxa will lead a walk in Belvoir Forest. It's a great location for evening walks, it's easy to get to and there are different routes we can take, so whether you have done this walk before or it's your first time, there's plenty of choice.
The RSPB has its Headquarters in Belvoir Forest Park, and the surrounding forest is full of bird life and other wildlife including the red squirrel, one of the few places they can be seen relatively easily, although under pressure from the grey squirrel.
It's mostly easy and level with a couple of short steep bits, so you'll need proper walking footwear with good grip.
NO TRAINERS. Dogs welcome.
After the walk, we can go to Costa Coffee in Drumkeen Retail Park, Forestside (near Smyth's Toys).
If you need a lift to the park, just post up the general area from which you're coming from and a driver may oblige. With fuel prices rising, please give your driver a tip. If you are a driver please don't organise lifts unless you definitely intend to go.
Public transport - it's about a 20 minute walk from Forestside, or you can get a 6c/d bus right to Belvoir Drive.
DIRECTIONS: From Belfast, take the motorway M1 to Junction 2. Turn left onto Stockmans Lane, go under the bridge and continue straight ahead onto Balmoral Avenue to its junction with the Malone Road.
Turn right for about half a mile to the roundabout at House of Sport (Sport NI). Keep left for about one mile. Turn left at the traffic lights at Old Milltown Road and follow the signpost for Belvoir Park Forest.
Ken's phone number is 07907 700242 if you are lost or late on the day
