Save The Date | Sawtooth Backpacking Adventure & Thompson Peak Summit | HARD

This is a preliminary “save the date” event for an ambitious weekend backpacking trip into the Sawtooths, including an attempt to summit Thompson Peak.
This will be a difficult trip intended for experienced backpackers only who are comfortable carrying a loaded pack, camping in the backcountry, traveling long distances, and handling significant elevation gain and mountain terrain.
Trip Overview:
• Destination: Sawtooth Wilderness
• Objective: Backpacking trip with Thompson Peak summit attempt
• Difficulty: Difficult
• Experience Level: Experienced backpackers only
• Duration: Weekend trip
Tentative Plan:
Friday Evening:
• Optional arrival and camping near Stanley Lake in the free camping area
Saturday Morning Early:
• Meet at Redfish Lake Lodge for those arriving Saturday morning
• Ferry ride across Redfish Lake
• Begin backpacking route into the Sawtooths
• Establish camp in the backcountry
Sunday:
• Break camp
• Complete hike out
• Return to Redfish Lake Lodge no later than approximately 3:00 PM to allow adequate travel time back to Boise and preparation for the work week
Important Notes:
This is a remote wilderness trip requiring personal responsibility, good judgment, and appropriate backcountry experience.
Please do not bring firearms on this trip.
Participants should carry appropriate personal safety equipment for wilderness travel, including bear spray and any other gear they deem necessary for their own safety and comfort.
