Hidden Gems - To the Little Red Light House and back

Details
This will be the first in a series of rides designed to spotlight some of the Hidden Gems of New York City.
We will begin at Brompton Junction New York. From there, we will ride to the Hudson River Greenway, and proceed north, with our ultimate destination the iconic Little Red Lighthouse that is perched beneath the majestic George Washington Bridge. This tiny gem was installed in 1921, but it became obsolete in 1931 when the Bridge was opened. The Coast Guard, which had installed the Lighthouse, decommissioned it in 1948 and planned to auction it off. But the publication of a popular children's book, THE LITTLE RED LIGHTHOUSE AND THE GREAT GRAY BRIDGE, led to public outcry, and in 1951 the lighthouse was given to the NYC Parks Department and was subsequently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
On the way back, we will stop for a late lunch at another hidden gem, the Pier I Cafe, which offers a variety of fare. You can also bring a lunch if you wish.

PLEASE NOTE: We will gather at 1 pm. PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME AT 1 PM. WHEELS UP PROMPTLY AT 1:30 PM.
This ride will be limited to 25 riders to make it manageable. If there is great demand for it, it will be offered again in the fall.
