I have the week off for Christmas. I might plan some more stuff during this week. We'll see how it goes.

So the official name for this is Tapas and Tiny Tinis an Omakase Event. That is a lot of T's and what is this strange word? It is Japanese. It basically means I leave it up to you. Unlike a possible uncomfortable situation with your spouse or date you are really leaving it up to him. I love food and the experience of leaving it up to someone else.

I do feel sorry for the Chef though. Now he has to decide what the other person wants to eat not me. Good luck!

Calliope has the Sofra. It's a Turkish word meaning a spread of food. The chef chooses and you go on an adventure. My personal favorite in town? Easy Bistro. They have the self explanatory Chefs Choice. We Americans keep our labels pretty basic. It is four courses and ten dishes. I have done both and they are amazing.

Eating can be discovery if you open yourself up to it. You learn about foods, culture, yourself, your personal tastes, and of course the person across the table from you. Letting go of choices and simply enjoying the moment, the experience and the people in front of you.

It's the day before the day before Christmas. Who doesn't need a drink? Let's do Tapas and tiny Tinis-Omakase. I promise it isn't like John Belushi in SNL's Samurai Delicatessen.

So grab your ticket here. Your ticket includes entry to the event + the first three courses of a chef-curated 8-course tasting with accompanying Tiny Martinis. You can then pick and choose from five more there or call it a night.

You can actually choose Vegeterian, vegan , or pescatarian. I had to look the latter one up,

It does sell out so you don't buy a ticket you can watch us eat. A little creepy, but that's okay.

Since we just did an event with a lot of T's in it lets go to the very close rooftop bar in the Westin. They too have Tapas. I used even more t's.

I am of course referring to
Paloma Bar De Tapas

Plus Tapas is a fun word. In Spanish tapas, means literally ‘cover or lid’ (because the dishes were given free with the drink, served on a dish balanced on, therefore ‘covering’, the glass).

So you do have to buy these tapas, but if you didn't get enough at the other place you can get more at this one.

Tapas=Covered/Lid? Soup Du Jour=Soup of the day, Sofra=Spread of food. Hey just realized all these places are as basic as we are. Does Todays Special-Meatloaf sound exotic to them? I mean Pain de viande du jour sounds better than Todays special-Meatloaf. Probably costs about ten bucks more though. It's all about perception.

I leave you with a Bourdain quote. Because Bourdain.

"For a dinner date, I eat light all day to save room, then I go all in: I choose this meal and this order, and I choose you, the person across from me, to share it with. There's a beautiful intimacy in a meal like that."
–Anthony Bourdain

Leave your cares, worries and concerns at home. Enjoy the night, the drink, whatever the hell the chef chooses, and the person in front of you.

Or grab a beer and some Gambas al Ajillo after at the Westin. Quite literally means Garlic Shrimp, but is sounds fancy the other way. Hope your date likes garlic. I don't care just have fun.
