Build an end-to-end power-saving system for your home
Details
Spending too much on electricity? Keen to add hardware to your resumé? Bored of AI-generated code and keen to build something cool with your own hands? On Saturday 29 November we'll meet in a cozy setting to each build our own home power-saving devices from the ground up, that we'll take home and attach to our pre-paid Eskom meters to gain unprecedented insights into our home's electricity usage 📈 Next step: save 💰
This is a paid event. We will provide the food, the hardware and the expertise to guide you through the process. You will take your new device home with you. You will need your own computer.
Because of the intimate, hands-on nature of the event, there are only 10 spots available. If the event is full, add your name to the waitlist and you will get preferential access to tickets to the next event.
Once we've built our power meter, in subsequent events we'll have the opportunity to expand the project and expand our skills. Learn CAD and 3D print a custom mounting for your home. Replace any part of the stack to extend your device in any number of ways. Together, we're going to have a lot of fun getting back to hardware, and experience the joy of unifying hardware and software 🙌
Date: 29 November 2025
Time: 09:00—12:00
Cost: R850pp (payment details provided after registration)
Venue: Cape Town. Address will be communicated to paid-up attendees.
