What we’re about
Welcome, Denver Cinephiles!
Denver Cinema Club is a social group for people who love independent, foreign, and classic films. We see four or five films a week, typically at the theaters in central Denver. After watching a film, we usually go to a nearby restaurant to have a snack or drink, chat about the movie, and socialize. It's a diverse, friendly group, and everyone is welcome.
In addition to our regular outings, we also attend special events: film festivals, trivia contests, seasonal mixers, Oscar parties, free screenings, etc. Watch your Meetup calendar for these, too.
We encourage group participation: we invite members to organize events of their own, and we have a discussion board and Facebook page for any film-related topics you'd like to bring up. We also publish a monthly newsletter of club news and reviews, the Denver Cinema Club Dispatch.
We hope to see you soon!

See all- I Know What You Did Last Summer - Free Advance Screening - Harkins NorthfieldHarkins Northfield 18, Denver, CO
Before you RSVP, please:
- Read the description below carefully
- Also read our Advance Screenings page
We have a small number of seats for a free advance screening of I Know What You Did Last Summer, a horror film directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Active members of the club--those who attend our regular events--will get priority for the seats. When you RSVP, you will be added to the wait list, and I will move people from the wait list to the "going" list by hand. Please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.
The studio reps have asked me to submit our guest list by Monday afternoon, two days before the screening. If you are on the "going" list on Monday, we will expect you at the movie on Wednesday. Again, please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.
Arrive by 6:30 for the 7:00 screening. Skip the line if there is one, and check in with the studio reps. They will check your name off their list and direct you to your seat. (They usually seat everyone in the club together, but not always.) Don't be late! If you arrive after 6:45, you could lose your reserved seat.
- Watch the trailer for the film.
- See its page at Rotten Tomatoes.
I will not be there, so I don't have anything planned for after the movie. If you would like to meet with other members, use the comments below to coordinate.

Not open - "Eddington" @The Sie Film CenterSie (Denver) Film Center, Denver, CO
Film twitter's favorite provocateur and former horror director Ari Aster is BACK with another bold, uncompromising, and I'm sure polarizing entry into his unique, edgy filmography: EDDINGTON
Premiered at the 2025 Cannes film festival (no prize won), the film follows the political and social turmoil in the fictional city of Eddington, New Mexico, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by incorporating genres of neo-Western and political films with dark comedic elements. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Austin Butler
As one of five enjoyers of Beau is Afraid in the Denver Metro area, I'm very excited and nervous to view this film. The subject is ripe for narrative abuse, and Ari Aster's not exactly known for astute political commentary. However, he's a talented filmmaker with a unique voice that I'm sure can bring a lot of tasty nuggets for us to dissect and discuss.
Time and spirits willing, we can head over to Bruz for some discussion afterwards!

- DEEP DIVE: Paul Verhoeven’s Cinema of E X C E S SBarquentine Brewing , Edgewater , CO
Yes, July's a long ways away but we must plan ahead!
This is a watch at home, discuss in person event. Note taking is encouraged!
For this deep dive, we're looking at one of the most prolific contemporary directors whose satirical edge and unflinching portrayal of excess has delighted and repulsed audiences everywhere from Cannes Film Festival to right in the comfort of their homes: Paul Verhoeven
There's a lot of angles we can take for Verhoeven's filmography. We can go the satirical route and solely look at his most satirical and heightened take on American/Western society, OR we can go the historical route and look at his lesser known European work and see how his style evolved OR we can just look at some of his most well known Hollywood films. I'd say why not a bit of all of the above?!
We're going over four films that exemplify these traits. Please watch all four before the discussion. If you can only watch a few, you're still welcome to join! If you have any trouble finding thing films, please reach out to me ASAP!

- Sorry, Baby at AMC Cherry CreekAMC Cherry Creek 8 in the Cherry Creek Mall, Denver, CO
For anyone who missed the first outing, join me for an early matinee of this highly regarded film. Selfishly, I would rather see it with some other folks as seems worthy of discussion.
Let’s hear it for concise loglines. Consider the first film from Eva Victor, comedian and social media star, who makes an absolutely major debut with her “Sorry, Baby.” Per official press materials and Sundance releases, the film’s synopsis is: “Something bad happened to Agnes. But life goes on… for everyone around her, at least.” Both simple and secretive, hinting at drama and revelations, and promising to root us firmly in Agnes’ world.
That’s certainly all true of “Sorry, Baby,” but no quick hit of words could ever accurately convey the power and potency of Victor’s debut, a darkly funny and enormously tender film that, yes, is about what happens after the worst occurs, but with plenty of room to weave the light next to the dark. Something bad happens to Agnes, but Victor is a wise enough creator to understand that’s only part of the story, because that’s only part of life itself. And while Victor’s film might be rooted specifically in Agnes’ story and the bad thing at its center, in its specificity, there’s still tremendous room for wider recognition and and revelation. (Indiewire)Tickets available on Fandango.com and at the box office.
Parking in the structure adjacent to the mall, 3 hours validated parking from AMC.
We can head to California Pizza kitchen or mall coffee bar after for discussion if folks are interested.
