What we’re about
Welcome, Denver Cinephiles!
Denver Cinema Club is a social group for people who love independent, foreign, and classic films. We see four or five films a week, typically at the theaters in central Denver. After watching a film, we usually go to a nearby restaurant to have a snack or drink, chat about the movie, and socialize. It's a diverse, friendly group, and everyone is welcome.
In addition to our regular outings, we also attend special events: film festivals, trivia contests, seasonal mixers, Oscar parties, free screenings, etc. Watch your Meetup calendar for these, too.
We encourage group participation: we invite members to organize events of their own, and we have a discussion board and Facebook page for any film-related topics you'd like to bring up. We also publish a monthly newsletter of club news and reviews, the Denver Cinema Club Dispatch.
We hope to see you soon!

See all- Preparation for the Next Life at the Alamo Sloan's LakeAlamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake, Denver, CO
Well for those of you who tolerate my love of Monday movies, let me announce, HUZZAH! At last a Monday Movie I am excited about, so excited that I am abandoning the Sie for the Alamo. This is a Bing Liu's (who made the truly stellar doc Minding the Gap) first narrative feature.
Bing Liu’s Oscar-nominated 2018 feature doc Minding the Gap is an intensely personal chronicle of three friends in an Illinois town united by their love of skateboarding and their traumatic childhoods. Clear-eyed and forthright about the fallout of fractured families, the film also weaves a dreamscape of sorts out of meditative interludes of skate footage that provide fluidity in a shape-shifting narrative. A similar free-flowing spontaneity, intimacy and compassion grace Liu’s first dramatic feature, Preparation for the Next Life, along with a deep affinity for troubled young people seeking refuge in one another while they attempt to establish a foothold as independent adults.(David Rooney)
Tickets available at the box office, on the Alamo and Fandango websites, it is showing in a small theater with limited availability.
4 hours free parking in structure with validation and street parking.

- "Crash" @Alamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake for Weird WednesdaysAlamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake, Denver, CO
The Alamo is NOT letting me sleep!! This is crazy because at the Videodrome event, we were talking about Crash and how it's really difficult to find online--even on my secret websi--I've said too much! The movie gods must have heard me.
Anyway, Crash is widely considered to be Cronenberg's best film, even above The Fly! So I'm willing to sacrifice sleep and work to experience this very weird, special film on the big screen! Won't you join me at this even more ungodly hour for this sinful film?? Thankfully the runtime is only 100 min!
Synopsis: A car crash victim suddenly finds himself turned on by car accidents and becomes involved with an underground sub-culture of like-minded souls.

Since it's so late, we won't be going somewhere to discuss afterwards, but we can do a quick discussion after the screening!
