We are excited to announce that internationally-renowned author, service designer and user experience designer Donna Spencer will be joining us in person at our next book club!

Donna - a leading UX practitioner, regular conference speaker, workshop teacher and start-up mentor - has written three books including titles on writing for the web and card sorting.

In this book club, we’ll be centering our discussions on Information Architecture and Donna’s book, “A Practical Guide to Information Architecture”.

Donna will share some thoughts about the book, its topics and themes. Then, after our break-out group discussions, Donna will join us in our whole group discussion on the book and information architecture.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Donna’s book is both a brilliant introduction to information architecture and a goldmine of tips and tricks for more experience practitioners.

It’s divided into five parts that cover understanding information architecture, understanding people, understanding content, designing an information architecture and designing navigation.

WALKING BUS FROM AND BACK TO RICHMOND STATION

Anyone is welcome to join our walking bus to and from the venue. A walking bus will be departing at 6pm from Holliva directly opposite Richmond Station. Look out for one of the UX Melbourne event hosts who will be holding a sign. A return walking bus will be departing MYOB at 8.30pm for the 10-minute walk back to Richmond Station.

WHAT HAPPENS AT BOOK CLUB

6.00 – Join us at the venue from 6pm for drinks and snacks

6.00 - Walking bus departs from Richmond station to MYOB (See above)

6.30 – Donna will talk to us about the book, its core topics, themes and ideas

6.50 – We break into groups for conversation about the book guided by some suggested topics and talking points.

7.20 – We all share our group’s discussions and ideas with the full group and continue to discuss the book amongst the whole group.

8.00 – The book club concludes but everyone is welcome to stay and continue the UX discussions!
