Big Pats Creek to Starlings Gap Loop. Approx. 23km, 800m elevation gain. (hard)
Details
This historical walk follows Richards Curves and the Mississippi Fire Line, with a series of hill climbs on the way to Starlings Gap before returning via the Upper Yarra Walking Track. The route mixes 4WD tracks and foot pathways through lush, scenic forest.
Meeting place:
We will meet at the carpark of the Big Pats Creek Picnic Area, Burns Road, Big Pats Creek.
Arrive early for a prompt 9am start.
Please do not RSVP to any Eastern Hiking & Adventure event unless you are fully committed to attending. It is your responsibility to check the date, distance, and difficulty of the walk before RSVPing. Members who frequently withdraw at the last minute, fail to show up, arrive without being on the "going" list, or behave disrespectfully towards leaders or fellow members will be asked to leave the walk and may be removed from the group. All leaders are unpaid volunteers who invest a great deal of their own time to plan and research each walk. Their efforts deserve respect and consideration. Organisers do their best to minimise waitlists where possible, and priority will be given to reliable members who attend regularly and contribute positively to the group experience.
Fitness Level
A good level of fitness, experience in bush hiking and the ability to maintain a constant steady pace is required to complete this Grade 3/4 hike.
What to bring:
- 2-3 litres water
- unch and snacks
- proper hiking boots/shoes
- rain/wind/sun protective clothing and SPF50 sunscreen
- personal first aid kit
- hiking poles recommended.
