Happy Valley
Details
This hike will start at Happy Valley Cutoff Road just before the bridge over Camp Creek. Room for 4 cars next to the bridge, and various pullouts back up the road for more with a bit of a walk. For carpooling, see the comments.
It's unclear exactly how much trail there is here, could be as little as a mile or could be many miles. Assuming it proves short, we'll add on the Cosumnes River Gorge (which is a few miles away along your route back if coming from Placerville/Sacramento). We'll hike until the 2.5 hour time frame is filled, however far that takes us. In both places, expect steep slopes that some may consider dangerous -- hike at your own risk, poles recommended.
Should be some good canyon views along the creek.
Rules reminder:
- No dogs allowed. Unfortunately, although the dogs were blameless, their owners have repeatedly risked the safety of people, dogs and wildlife in and out of the group. Ignoring this rule will result in immediate removal from the group.
- If you can't make it, change your RSVP -- even if you don't know until 1 minute before the meetup start time, change your RSVP at that time so that we don't wait around for you.
- If there are people RSVPed who haven't arrived yet, we'll generally wait 5 minutes past the start time.
- If there's a wait list for a meetup, people with a history of no shows will be removed to make room for those more likely to attend. When there's a wait list, please try to update your RSVP at least a day in advance if you can't make it.
- You hike at your own risk. We try to keep people from getting lost or injured, but you are ultimately responsible for yourself and knowing your limits.
- Any sort of bigotry or harassment (based on gender identity, race, religion, etc.) is unwelcome and would result in removal.
